Greek Fest Fort Myers

Greek Fest Fort Myers DATES ARE: February 19,20,21 2027 For over 40 years, our parish has entertained Lee County with a glorious display of sights, sounds and tastes of Greece.

No matter the reason, they will experience the warmth and generosity that have been the hallmarks of the Greek culture. This festival is not only about music, dance, wine, food, and family fun. When Italians think they’re the pasta kings… 🇮🇹
then they try pastitsio 🇬🇷

Layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy béchamel baked to perfection…

This isn’t just pasta 🍝 this is Greek comfort food at its best.

In Greece kids and adults are wearing “Martis” (a white and red thread) in March month to protect themselves from the first strong spring sun to avoid the sunburn.

Martis is the name of the custom in which a bracelet made of red and white rope or threads that have been twisted or braided is worn on 1st of March in Greece.

It is an ancient custom that symbolizes health, protection from diseases and the rebirth of nature. According to popular tradition, when worn on the hand, Martis protects faces from the first spring sun, so that they don’t burn.

The Greek flag is more than blue and white.
It is history. It is sacrifice. It is faith.

Nine stripes for the nine syllables:
Ελευθερία ή Θάνατος Freedom or Death.

The cross reminds us of the strength of our Orthodox faith.
The blue reflects our seas and skies.
The white reflects the purity of our struggle.

Every time it waves, it tells a story🇬🇷
