The Shimmy Seminar is a four week intensive burlesque workshop that covers everything from choosing a stage name to a group and solo number presented in an end of class recital.
For 11 years, Miss Rachel Riot and Raquel have taught The Shimmy Seminar together bringing Rachel’s 16 years of burlesque experience and Raquel’s 25+ years of professional and technical dance experience.
Students meet weekly in a group environment to learn a brief history of burlesque, costuming, creating a burlesque bio, glove and stocking peels, tassel twirling and more. Both teachers assist students with solo choreography and create and teach a group number. The class ends with a recital a week or two after the close of class.
Rachel and Raquel have graduated almost 100 students since 2011 with many of them going on to perform and produce in the area. The total cost of the class is $250 with a $125 deposit required to hold your spot and the other $125 due on the first day of class. Deposits are non refundable.
We are currently booking for:
-October Saturday class (Oct 7, 14, 21, 28 10am - 1pm)
-Fall Thursday Night class (six week version - 2 hours a week instead of 3: (sept 21, 28, oct 5, 19, 26, nov 2 7pm - 9pm
All classes taught at The Showroom Garner. Additional one on one lessons provided for students for an additional charge.
