After more than a decade of unforgettable performances and community celebration, the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival in Downtown Everett will be coming to a close. Since its launch in 2014, the festival has showcased hundreds of emerging and established artists, energized local businesses, and helped define Everett’s identity as a vibrant music city. What began as a bold idea to bring people together through live music grew into a beloved annual tradition that filled our streets, venues, and hearts with spontaneity and pride for our city.
While many assume the festival was produced by the city or backed by a large music company, it is actually organized by the Everett Music Initiative, a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit with no full-time employees. Since launching the festival in 2014, the organization has grown steadily and thoughtfully. What began as a grassroots effort now includes a committed board of directors, an established fundraising platform, and a strong network of dedicated volunteers. Over the years, EMI has expanded its reach beyond our flagship festival, growing Music at the Marina into a destination event, growing Rock the Boat each year and producing roughly two dozen additional events annually in venues throughout the community.
The EMI team firmly believes that the spirit of Fisherman’s Village has contributed to Downtown Everett’s creative energy continuing to grow — inspiring new venues, new bars, more shows, and the momentum behind collaborative efforts like Late Shift Everett and First Fridays. While we’re a hair heartbroken to let this one go, we’re also incredibly proud of what it sparked and what continues to build because of it. We’re creating more events in Everett this year than ever before, and this decision allows us to dedicate the time and resources toward producing many more special, loud nights in our city. Fisherman’s Village may be ending, but the music and the movement is far from over.
