Held annually in Evansville on the Saturday before Dr. King's holiday, this celebration brings people of all ages together for a day of learning, service, & unity. Join us in Evansville, Indiana, for the annual Beyond the Mountain Top MLK Community Celebration! Held each year during the weekend before the MLK holiday in January, this event focuses on education, service, and celebration in honor of
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy. Among the highlights of this celebration are a Joint Day of Service on Saturday morning from 8-12, uniting local colleges and community members in service projects. In the afternoon, from 2-6, enjoy the Community Festival at the CK Newsome Center with food trucks, vendors, a community art exhibition for all ages, a resource fair, and a designated Kids Zone packed with activities and performances. At 4PM, a special program will feature inspiring speakers, poetry, music, and dance. Organized by the Evansville African American Museum and powered by a diverse and passionate committee of community partners, this celebration invites us all to go beyond the mountain top and carry Dr. King’s vision forward into the future he dreamed of, together.
