The Brothers Comatose concert this Saturday in Eureka Springs will be a fantastic show! Tickets are still available for just $30 (reserved seating at the historic City Auditorium). The concert is part of the weekend-long Ozark Mountain Music Festival kicking off Thursday and ending Sunday night. There are 6 stages (all indoors!) mostly inside the Basin Park Hotel and Chelsea's. Tickets for the full festival are still available until they sell out. Single-day tickets are available for Thursday or Sunday only. (Visit the event FB page for the ticket link.) One of ’ worst-kept secrets is a weekly event featuring fast-ass-fantastic by an all-star lineup of 5 musicians who, among them, star in seven other bands. They’re known as Sprungbilly, and they’ve been blowing us away every Monday (with evolving rosters) since at least 2011. First it was called Springbilly, playing locals bluegrass night and ladies night ($2 PBR longnecks for women, back in 2012!) at Chelsea's. Eventually, members rotated in and out, and the name became Sprungbilly. During Covid, Gravel Bar’s newly expanded deck became the new home for the weekly event — by then it’d become a sort of combined church singing, family dinner, and block party. Gravel Bar continued expanding its deck, put a roof on it, and retractable walls. It’s nice, and relaxed, and also wild — because the music is so fiery and so well-done! (The friendly, inclusive vibe and the people-watching are pretty epic, too.) Tables are shared family-style and as long as you’re not a jerk, no one thinks twice about what you might wear, who you’re with, or how you dance!

A tribute to the dual legacies left to this world by Ron Landis, may he rest in peace and spicy bluegrass jams. 🥹

In reading the thousands of comments posted to Facebook since we learned this sad news, I’m struck by how many people he touched — and the vast differences among those he touched. Ron would love this, because he frequently wished for his music to help forge community, especially where the divisions of this world seemed too great to bridge. Today, in mourning his passing, it is clear that his music achieved what he always hoped it would.

There was a lot more to Ron than music, and his legacy as an engraving artist and coin-making expert is renowned worldwide. He told me once, when I was helping him build a website for his engraving and coin-making studio in 2020, that it bugged him when people assumed “music was all he did.” So I am sharing below the biography that he and I co-wrote for LandisStudios.net (he was so happy with it when we finished!).

We love you, Ron.

Ron Landis built a legacy of community through music; his "other hobby" of coin-making and engraving changed the way we view history and made him a global expert. He will be missed.

Lineup part 1 unveiled for Hillberry Music Festival happening this fall outside of Eureka Springs!

Hey now! Please give a warm welcome to our 2025 Hillberry Music Festival bands! We are very excited for round 1 of the line-up announcements. Deadhead Productions & Railroad Earth are going to do it right for our 10-year anniversary. We will be adding a 3rd stage this year, Bentonville Brewing Company Stage. Expect more bands than Hillberry has ever seen before. We still have LOTS of National and regional acts to announce so get your tickets before the final price increase!
