A new heat pump, a more comfortable home, and one less worry for a local family. ❤️🏡

Through Able Air’s Do What’s Right community giveaway, we donated and installed a brand-new heating and cooling system for a local family in need—with all costs covered.

Giving back to the community we call home means so much to our team. We’re grateful to have been able to help this family, and we want to share the thoughtful letter from the person who nominated them:

“Why I Nominated This Family for a Free Heat Pump
I nominated this family because they are doing everything they can to provide a safe and stable home, yet replacing their heating system was simply beyond their reach. It is almost impossible for a family to have a stay at home parent to raise their children in this economic time but K***** and A***** buckle down, and cut every corner, so that they can raise their son at home in a nurturing environment, teaching the values that they want him to have.
Their current system was no longer working, leaving them worried about keeping the home warm during cold weather and comfortable during the summer. Reliable heating and cooling are not luxuries for this household; they are essential to the family’s health, safety, and peace of mind.
Able Air stepped in and provided dependable, energy efficient comfort for the S***** family (who haven’t had a furnace in several years) with the Able Air Do What’s Right program. Wildfire smoke outside? Let’s clean the air inside.

With wildfire smoke drifting through Western Washington, a lot of people notice two big issues indoors:

tiny smoke particles that irritate lungs, and

that lingering campfire smell.

Your HVAC system can help with both — but in different ways.

Carbon filters: for smoke odors and gases

What they do: Activated carbon media is excellent at grabbing smoke odors and gases (VOCs) that normal furnace filters can’t touch.

What to know: Carbon saturates over time, especially in heavy smoke, so it needs more frequent replacement when air quality is poor.

If your main complaint is “my house smells like smoke,” carbon is the tool that makes the biggest difference.

Electronic air cleaners: for fine particles

What they do: Electronic air cleaners charge airborne particles (dust, pollen, smoke) and trap them on collection plates as the air passes through your HVAC system.

Why that matters: They’re designed to capture the really small particles that make up most wildfire smoke, improving indoor air quality and reducing irritation in sensitive lungs.

What to know: The plates need regular cleaning to stay effective.
