The 2025 Great Land Run 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon was the best yet!! We are so grateful to the ARMY of people that it took to make our event work and only wish we could thank each and every one of you personally. Here are some highlights from our Race Director:
New this year, we used online real-time results. This was a game changer allowing us to save valuable time, paper, and ink during the event. All finisher results can be found here: https://2017glr.itsyourrace.com/Results.aspx?id=9685
Team results will be posted later today. This service didn't cost us anything other than time to figure out how it worked through our registration site and the generous support of EPS for getting us wifi on site.
We had the most beautiful weather I've ever seen for one of our races.
A huge shout out to Enid Public Schools for providing us with an incredible amount of support including printing things, making large signs, getting us photographers, bringing in the extra tables and setting them up, providing us the cool backdrop used for pictures, sending student volunteers, setting up StarLink wifi for timing so we could have real-time online results, loaning us their IT department for audio support, and much much more. We are so happy to partner with you in making our event such a great success. Special thank you to my partner in crime, EPS Superintendent Assistant, Veronica Marin.
Kent and Becky Evatt at Red Bird Farm are always so gracious in accommodating our event. Their venue is beautiful and the entire reason we wrapped our event around the farm for the first time last year. I think parking went smoother this year but we always welcome any additional feedback.
New this year was the Coffee Inclination truck. I saw a lot of people walking around with coffee cups (and thank you for not throwing those cups all over the Farm) so I think this was a welcome offering in the wee hours of the morning.
Also new this year were the light plants donated by United Rentals. Another game changer, IMO, increasing safety and allowing all of our volunteers to work more efficiently.
No event like this will ever be perfect, I'm resigned to that. We're getting closer, though. I think for the first time ever, I did not hear about anyone getting lost on the course. PLEASE GIVE US FEEDBACK - we can't improve without knowing where the issues are.
There was a snafu with our new shirt vendor and we ended up with a mix of tech and cotton blend shirts. I've been hearing mixed preferences for one or the other with some preferring the tech and others preferring the cotton blend.
I personally apologize for not ordering enough Half Marathon medals. Last year, we had 38 half marathon finishers so I bumped our medal order up to 50 hoping we didn't have to throw any of our beautiful medals away. We always have to strike a balance between sending money to vendors vs giving money to EPS. This year, we had 55 register for the Half Marathon and ALL 55 ran and finished. This is a new record for us!! I will be placing an additional order for Half Marathon medals today and we will mail those out to finishers as soon as they arrive.
Overall, I'm so pleased with how our event went. I'll be analyzing our race data and putting together some race stats soon. If you read this whole thing and want to comment, PLEASE give our team kudos AND constructive suggestions. Thank you!!
