Now in it's 21st year, Dachshunds and Friends on Parade has evolved into an event where all dogs can be celebrated and showcase their star qualities! Originally a Dachshund-only event, we have expanded it to include all dogs, while keeping the tradition of Dachshund races, which is the showcase event. Hosted by Josie's Misfit Ranch, a

registered non-profit animal rescue, all proceeds go towards the mission of helping animals wounded in body and spirit. Generous sponsors make this event possible and include Valley Veterinary Hospital, Kittitas Valley Healthcare, Ponderosa Construction and Club 301. This family-fun event will feature training demos, dog-friendly vendors, animal education and some celebrity dog guests. Plus, in addition to our popular races, costume contest and dog trick categories, we’ve added some other fun contests based on the American Rescue Dog Show:

Best Couch Potato: Does your dog lounge like no other? Best Ears: If your dog’s ears are long, tall, wide, or just adorable, enter them in our Best Ears category and get ready to hear the applause! Best Wiggle Butt: Does your dog shake it like a polaroid picture? Show off their moves in a tail-wagging, bootie-shaking contest! Best Talker: Your dog has a lot to say. Let them talk to our judges to see who has the best vocal prowess. Best Belly Rubs: If your dog has no shame when it comes to assuming the position, this is where their neediness can pay off! Best in Special Needs: Dogs with special needs don’t know they are different from other dogs and just want to live their best life. This category celebrates all that makes them special! 8-10 a.m. = Pancake Breakfast hosted by Rodeo City Kiwanis
9 a.m. - Registration opens
9:45 a.m. - Parade Line Up (on Pine Street between 3rd and 4th)
10:00 a.m. – Parade through Farmer’s Market (Down Fourth Street)
10:20 a.m. – The Dance Barn Performs on the track (“Who Let the Dogs Out?”)
10:30 a.m. – Costume Contest

11:00 a.m. – Tricks Competition
11:15 a.m. – New Contests

We are proud to announce that Josie's Misfit Ranch will be hosting Dachshunds & Friends On Parade on Parade again in Downtown Ellensburg, sponsored by Ellensburg Pet Lodge!

Held at Unity Park in downtown Ellensburg, it's the doggiest event in Kittitas County, where all dogs of all breeds can show off why they are man's (and woman's) best friend. And this year it coincides with National Dachshund Day!

It starts with a parade down 4th street with you and your dog(s) strutting your stuff! Dogs then compete in our costume and tricks contests, followed by events for best talker, best wiggle butt, and best ears. We also honor our senior, special needs and rescue dogs in Best Of categories. We round out the day with our famous Dachshund races, because nothing is better than seeing a wiener dog race for glory! Other breeds also get a chance to race by size.
All this along with free entertainment and dog-centric vendors so you can get your dogs, clothes, treats, and more to show your dog they are the BEST!

We are excited to see you Saturday on Pine Street in downtown Ellensburg for Dachshunds and Friends on Parade! Join the Rodeo City Kiwanis pancake breakfast at 8 am and browse our vendors starting at 9. The parade will be at 10 followed by all our contests and races. Today is the last day to pre-register for Dachshunds & Friends On Parade this Saturday June 22 in downtown Ellensburg. You can still register the day of the event, but pre-registration ensures you a speedier check-in process so you can start in on all the fun earlier!

Now in its 21st year, Dachshunds and Friends on Parade celebrates all things dogs can do and the special bond they have with their humans. Dogs of all breeds compete in costume contests, a tricks competition, and other fun events like Best Ears, Best Couch Potato, Best in Belly Rubs, Best Talker and Best Wiggle Butt. The day concludes with races including our beloved Dachshund races, where wiener dogs sprint for glory.
