House next to me is for rent October 16-25. It is a two bedroom, two bath with totally appointed kitchen area and bar. Room for third couple or singles in living room. Rent will be $1350 for the week. House is on canal with private dock. No one else will get a deal like this down here. There is county bus service for about two bucks to get downtown. Also plenty of UBERS if you're in imbibing mode. This is Fantasy Fest week! Another world and part of Key West culture. American and United are the chief airlines but not the only ones. Driving is also an option. A total ocean drive. Interested? Contact me. I have no financial fingers in this deal. I just have a good neighbor who offers this price. AND I live next door! I know things. You have some time. Think it over. Once interested I turn you over to the property owner. Other houses that week approach about 4 grand but they're already taken. Talk if and when.

How is Golf Related to Bluegrass? Well, let me tell ya!

Today, during the 5 inch rain downpour, I was stuck to the TV. Everything in the mancave was afloat except my office/bedroom. Like any trained monkey I went in there. Turned on the news. South Florida news. Jupiter, south Florida news.

Seems Tiger Woods copped to a plea deal about impaired driving six months ago. Pretty light sentence. Had a great lawyer who told him to be humble. Well, Tiger, you know, your drunken face was shown on the cover of every major newspaper in the world. Everyone agrees you looked fu**ed up. There was the truth staring at him in the newspaper. Paid a lot to hear that lawyer tell him that.

The big question after court was not that he wasn't allowed to drive a car. But, could he drive a golf cart?

Problems of the rich. About three weeks ago I had to get a golf cart off of the Foxhole property. Needed a good lawyer. Gas powered, idiot driven, pure black coffee in my veins. A trip of terror and intrigue. But since I don't write about that crap just an ill-advised trip.

It was a good addition to the Foxhole. Wasn't meant to be but logic can sometimes punch you in the nose. I just wanted to be an old fart in a golf cart. Golf cart served many more purposes than my vanity ever could.

When I got off Allan Teator I knew I was in trouble. Paved road. Fairly high speed limit, large trucks, downhill, usually only a ditch next to me. Little under three miles. No rear view mirror. Continuous jerk of the neck. Splendiferous scenery! Idiot at the wheel!

Made progess. Then rt. 145. Hell in the Catskills! I floored that mother to its full 71/2 mph capacity. And lived.

Now I had a bathroom hitch at my side. Used sparingly it only had cheap flashlights taped to the dash. Nothing at the night time stage struck me this year. But I was happy at my camper. Its a bluegrass festival. There's bluegrass 20 feet over there and 30 feet over there. Or Angelique practicing her chops! One is as good as the other.

The golf cart gets used for several days more after everyone has left Grey Fox. I like to clean up the woods after the festival. Nowadays people show more respect. Not always that way but folks have come around. There will always be refuse but common sense is prevailing. This is all by the creek. Wonderful shady areas and geological history there for the viewing. If the water is high enough it talks to you. Old and in the Way.

One day, before everyone had left, I heard and half saw a guy out in the woods. He was loudly explaining how he had saved most of the world with his deft realization of when danger was near. But, somehow, he didn't see me under a tree nearby. I mean, I had a miniature H-bomb in my pocket. After a while...you just learn stuff!

The question is: Should Tiger Woods be allowed to drive a golf cart? Do teenagers really eat TIDE soap pods?

First outdoor post since "The Sad Demise of Henry". Its lovely out here with the fan but the five inches of rain today will bring 500,000 billion mosquitos by the end of the week,

Fantasy Fest begins about October 17th and runs to the 28th. Thereabouts. Best day is the Saturday parade. Way more loosy goosy than New Ahlins! The house next to me has been for rent that week for several years. Its like $1350/week. Can't get a room for that during the fest for just one night. Its a favor, I don't get a cut. More than a dozen of your friends have stayed here. We share an UBER downtown. Just makes sense. Key West Rich will probably be driving. No guarantees until I talk to the guy. Lives in Idaho of all places. Next door, is yes, his own Private Idaho! Its two bedroom, two bath but room in the living room for a third or a couple, the ones that pay less than the other two. Nice yard. Back yard has a canal with clean ocean water

And I thought Tiger looked really really drunk.

Of course I forgot some stuff. It bleeds into my mind and the guilt settles in. Not good with guilt. Some things I can't mention but others I can. Lets start with Chris (sp?) Kohrs from the Milk Run. She bought a good amount of our t-shirts and had her staff wear them at the Milk Run. Didn't change until the big fest started. Appropriate and fair. Always with a smile. Husband and wife met up with me in Key West at the Green Parrot some years back. Fun.

Karl, the social and physical co-leader of the band with a heart of just cooked buttered corn on the cob and always a loud ass greeting. There are people in that town that greet me by name because of Karl! I enjoy it and have breakfast with him almost everyday.

Our morning coffee is delivered by Karl or one of his staff. Usually there by 6am and often earlier. Karl supplies the ice at the farmhouse. We've gone by the honor system since day one. The majority of the time the till works well. But its easy to balance the few shortfalls. The Foxhole long ago decided to not share in ice profits. I mean, ice that close? Manna from heaven!

When the Vickery's towing truck died Karl extended the use of one of his farm trucks. When does this ever happen? And he did it with a smile!

Karl stores and moves my camper to the two sites. And he smiles doing it! When the Health Department demanded that I have a towing plan in case of inclement weather (as we've have) Karl got on the phone and implemented his huge truck and farm tractors solution. That shut 'em up! We can't exist without this guy. And he never runs out of my b**r. Even the Bait Shop has slipped up on that once in a while. But, hey, I'm very forgiving. THANK YOU MILK RUN!

Lets talk about the Allen (Allan) family soon. Oh yeah, Most of my phone calls to Karl were at a little after 5am. You can imagine how sharp we were.

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!

Can't forget Chris Stricker. Picked up the trash, collected some tips for doing so. This doesn't just happen at other pickin' parties. Hats off to this individual. Made life so much more bearable. Will be glad to see him come back! Pretty smart fella by the way!

1800 miles in the books. Much disappointment at home. I'll deal with it. Probably post something Foxhole worthy here from time to time just to stir the pot. Carry on. And, yes, its hot!

Pretty damn good summer! In a few hours I'm on the road south. If I see something interesting or have a novel thought I'll post from my motel/hotel rooms. I have plenty to do when I get home on top of keeping an eye open for hurricanes. Thanks to everyone!

Tuesday. Podunk time at some point. Bring good cheer.

Some of you will remember that the water at Catskill Creek was barely a dribble and not worth the effort to soak the bottoms of your feet in. I can tell you now that it is a swirling gushing maelstrom that would immediately put your life in danger. The area got almost 12 inches of rain in a 48 hour period. We are fortunate to be gone from the area. Even in Brookfield, Connecticut we got over 4 inches of rain and the streams are over their banks. AND its raining again! Sometime after 2 Malin and I will hit the local steak house for a little celebratory lunch (indoors) and discuss the upcoming Podunk exercise and get together.

I'm pretty sure that Jim Tater and I will put together a few meals from his flat grill amongst our other endeavors. Trying to put together a group photo idea which may briefly entertain us in some way and maybe find its way onto a Foxhole calendar. Looking forward to hijinks, fun, music and laughter. With fewer injuries. Also looking forward to seeing the Gibson Brothers.

Two days after this adventure is completed I intend to be on Interstate 81 for the downhill run back to the Keys. Since its all downhill I expect to use less gas on the journey. I will spend two nights in separate motels along the way. I will accept nothing less than a Best Western! Motels with numbers on them are usually quite filthy and used as welfare housing to a degree. I will absolutely NOT stop to eat at a McDonald's or Burger King. I WILL stop at a Buckees or two or other major truck stops because of the many varied and unusual products they sell that you don't usually see. The best part of the journey is always the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountain geologics. NOT going through Atlanta is a must. Florida is boring until I get to the Everglades on the western side of the state. Lots of peace on rt. 41. Then there's the 42 bridges on the Overseas Hiway. Can't beat that.

It will be overwhelmingly hot when I get home. I expect my yard to be full of downed palm fronds and coconuts. The weeds will be high and my beautiful Poincianna tree will need a serious trim. Half my potted plants will be dead from lack of watering despite the promises of friends to water them. You can only reasonably expect so much. So, there will be much to do.

After much unpacking it will be time for a brew down to my beloved bait shop. Back to the old routine. And make preparations for visitors during Fantasy Fest! Life does NOT suck! Just a few bumps and bruises along the way. Great summer! Thanks for that.
