🔨 Building Futures at the Du Quoin State Fair

The SI Builders Expo brought more than 600 high school students from over 50 schools across the region to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds this week to explore careers in the skilled trades.

Students got a hands-on look at what a future in the trades can look like through live demonstrations, career information and opportunities to connect with professionals in the industry.

Information was shared. Connections were made. Demonstrations brought the trades to life. And for many students, new possibilities for their future were considered.

We’re proud to have hosted an event that connected students with local trades and gave them a chance to see where their skills and interests could take them.

🌱 Conservation starts with learning — and for more than three decades, area Soil and Water Conservation Districts have been helping Illinois students do just that.

The 34th Annual Conservation Fair returns to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds September 29–30, bringing kindergarten through 4th grade students together for two days of hands-on learning about the natural resources all around us.

Students will visit volunteer-led stations exploring topics like soil health, water quality, wildlife, forestry, pollinators, agriculture, rocks and minerals, wind and more.

In 2025, more than 1,200 students and 80 volunteers took part. This year, the tradition continues as students discover, explore and learn about the importance of conservation.
