I will be open here at Sharp Edge Designs 47 E Queens Way Saturday and Sunday 9am to 9pm and I have so many great gift items. These are the beautiful Christmas Spiders I have left for adoption. Each one comes in a unique gift box and a copy of the Christmas spider story. ———————
The Story of the Christmas Spider:
Once upon a time, many years ago, on the day before Christmas, a woman prepared for the next days celebration. She cleaned and scrubbed her home until every nook and cranny sparkled. The little spiders that resided in the cozy corner had to run far up into the attic to escape being swept away by her very busy broom. from their safe hideout, the spiders listened for quite some time to the hustle and bustle in the house below. They heard the whole family singing songs and the sound of laughter rose to the rafters well until the evening. The spiders were frantic to see what was going on that was sounding so delightful but still afraid of the woman’s broom, they decided to stay put until the family had gone to bed.
It was about midnight when the spiders hearing no more noise below them began to excitedly make their way down from the attic. They peaked through the small crack of the doorway and they were amazed at what they saw! What beauty and splendor they had before them!. They didn’t waste not a second and off they said to explore the beauty and wonder of the tree. They scurried up the trunk and went out among each and every branch, and climbed up upon every single ornament dangling from the limbs until they reach the bright golden star at the very top. They delighted in racing each other back to the bottom of the tree, just so they could start the climb all over again. They were truly having a wondrous time, but eventually sleepiness overcame each of them, and they drifted off to sleep in the branches.
When father Christmas arrived with the gifts for the children, he saw the happy little spiders nestled in the branches, and he smiled as he thought of the joy they must’ve felt to see such a sight as a Christmas tree. But his heart was sad to see what the spiders Had done to the tree. They had covered every inch with their web as they had played. Knowing the family would be sad to see their beautiful tree like this. He worked his Christmas magic and turned the web into gold and silver. It is fabled. This was the first tree to be decorated with gold and silver. Today we put a spider among the branches of our Christmas trees to say thank you to the spiders for their wonderful gift.
