Our mission is to give our Heroes the Honor they deserve. Weโ€™re passionate that no Hero gets left behind, so weโ€™ve made our events FREE to ALL veterans, active military, and their spouses. Your support allows them to attend with their families while also providing access to resources for mental, emotional, physical and spiritual care. Hosted by Engage Your Destiny, a 501c3 organization on a missio

n to bring Honor, Hope and Healing to active military, veterans and their families. Every donation is tax-deductible and used to advance this mission.

We just finished our FIRST Engage Your Destiny retreat for active duty soldiers and their families!!

Some comments from the weekend:

โ€œI found my family here.โ€

โ€œI felt a rush of the Holy Spirit through my body for the first time.โ€๏ฟผ

โ€œThis retreat has brought me closer to my husband than I have ever been.โ€

โ€œThe emptiness I have felt for so long has been filled with love, acceptance, family and God.โ€

Soldiers went through 3 day intensive on how to engage their story, their history and their vision. We had bonfires, equine healing, a leap of faith exercise, rock climbing, worship, and baptisms!

This is just the beginning.

It has been 50 years since the ending of the Vietnam War. But we have not forgotten the heroism, courage and resilience of our Vietnam Veterans.

This photo shows a U.S. corpsman carrying an injured child away from the battle in Huรฉ. The child was found wandering the previous night between the North Vietnamese and the American firing lines. His parents had probably been killed.

They took the child into a bunker, cleaned him up and dressed his wounds under candlelight. These hard Marines suddenly became the most gentle, loving persons. The photographer shares that it felt like a religious experience to record this extraordinary event.

The following morning, this corpsman took the child to the rear of the battle zone where he could be handed over for more medical attention. He carried the child as if it were his own, wrapped into a poncho, because it was quite cold. A picture of a true hero carrying a child away from the sorrow and injuries of war.

But their heroism didn't stop there. Once home, they persevered amidst a divided nation to protect the honor, welcome homes and benefits of future veterans.

Vietnam Veterans, today and everyday, we honor you.

The military salute, while its origin is unknown, has shown up throughout history as a sign of respect, courtesy and honor.

Medieval knights in armor raised the visors of their helmets before greeting their lord or comrades. This gesture would have made a person both recognizable as well as vulnerable, at the same time demonstrating that the right hand (i.e., the sword hand) did not carry a weapon, both being signs of trust and good intention.

The Bible references the salute 49 times with its meaning translating to, (n.) The act of saluting, or expressing kind wishes or respect; salutation; a greeting. (v.) to honor.

Itโ€™s with this in mind, we knew the Heroes Honor Festival salute had to happen. It was the long overdue respect, honor and acceptance our Vietnam Veterans didnโ€™t hear coming home 50 years ago. It was the respect they werenโ€™t shown. And It was the honor they hadnโ€™t received.

God gave us a vision to heal generational trauma caused by the dishonoring of our Vietnam Warriors decades ago. We chose to honor our Vietnam Veterans and here are just a few of the reasons why:

1. They served and endured the most days in one year of combat in American history. WWII was 40 days, Vietnam was 240. That is worthy of a salute.

2. When they came home they were shamed by this nation. Spit on, called baby killers, abandoned by politicians, ostracized by family and friends, unsupported by the VA. Shamed into obscurity as many of them didnโ€™t tell anyone for 30, 40 even 50 years after they had served. That is worthy of a salute.

3. They were denied benefits by the VA for Agent Orange so they took the fight to Washington and paved the way for future generations, like Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, to get the coverage they need for issues like those, caused by the burn pits overseas. That is worthy of a salute.

4. When Iraq soldiers' families were being shamed by protestors at the funerals of the fallen, it was the Vietnam Veterans that rose up and said โ€˜NEVER AGAIN. Never again will we allow our military to be shamed the way we were.โ€ They became the guardians of honor in our nation. That is worthy of a salute.

Vietnam Veterans: Thank you for your courage, determination and resilience in the face of unimaginable opposition. Today we salute you again, we honor you as the great warrior that you are. Your life and legacy is impacting generations of veterans.
