From a grateful heart… ❤️
I’m not sure words can adequately express how humbled and grateful I am today.
To our sponsors, our Danville community, our City leaders, our public safety teams, and—most importantly—our incredible VOLUNTEERS: THANK YOU.
Literally hundreds of hours go into planning an event like the Three Sisters Marathon. But here’s what I know: No amount of planning matters if the ex*****on doesn’t happen well.
And you all executed with EXCELLENCE.
Our volunteers, you SHOWED UP and SHOWED OUT for our runners! You gave your time, your energy, your smiles, your encouragement, and your servant hearts. You stood at intersections, worked water stations, directed runners, handed out medals, cheered, solved problems, and did whatever was needed to make race day special.
This race simply could not happen without you.
And Danville—you showed up, too! ❤️
Seeing people throughout our community cheering and encouraging runners as they pushed themselves toward their own personal goals was incredibly moving.
Every runner has a story. There is a reason they run. There is a reason they race. There is a reason they choose to do hard things.
I’ll be sharing some of those stories in the days ahead, but today I simply want to recognize the people who helped make those stories possible.
Thank you to our City Council for supporting this event and for showing up to cheer on our runners.
A HUGE thank you to the Danville Police Department, Danville Public Works, Danville Parks & Recreation, Danville Fire Department, and Danville Life Saving Crew. You went above and beyond to help keep our runners, volunteers, spectators, and community safe.
Steve Scott — thank you for doing such an outstanding job coordinating with our support personnel and managing traffic control. That was a tremendous undertaking, and you handled it beautifully.
Dan Guarino — thank you for the countless hours of behind-the-scenes planning and for helping us stay within our financial boundaries. So much of what you do may never be seen by the runners, but it is absolutely essential to this race.
And a very special thank you to our Zone Directors, who took ownership of sections of the course, managed volunteers, solved problems, and helped make sure everything ran smoothly:
Dr. Michael Canavan
Laurie Dishman
DJ Bryan
Bernice Moore
Christine Eanes
Penny Shelton
To our sponsors—thank you for believing in this event and investing in our runners and our community. We could not do this without your generosity and partnership.
As Race Director, my gratitude runs deep.
Yesterday wasn’t just about miles, finish times, medals, or awards. It was about a community coming together to serve people who were willing to challenge themselves and do hard things.
And you surrounded them with love and encouragement while they did it.
I am humbled by your service. I am grateful for your servant hearts. And I am incredibly proud of our Danville community.
From the very bottom of my heart…
THANK YOU. ❤️
