Weather looks great for Thursday Evening! We will launch from Katie’s grove. I plan to be there early for those that would like to check in and travel to Twin Coves or Murrell park to fish. Looks like either side of the lake would be fishable Thursday. Low winds, moderate temps and hopefully hungry fish! See you there!

We will not have a Workingman’s this week due to the pending storms this afternoon.

Hope to see everyone at Marine Creek Lake this week at the north side, main boat ramp. The wind looks a bit breezy, but barring "white caps" we will fish!

The fisherman of the month will win an Okuma travel rod and case this week. So, if you are in the running.. you better be there! I'm counting myself out on this one, so the contest is pretty wide open.

See ya'll there!

The weather predicted for today's tournament looks AWESOME! I will be at Katie's Woods boat ramp at Lake Grapevine before 5:00 for check-in. As the wind will be fairly light, some may want to fish the Twin Coves area. We will make allowances for that, but you must check in personally with me first before heading to another area on the lake to fish.

There have been 4 winners so far this year:

3/9 Erick Simien 214-663-4270 @ 89.25

4/2 John Stockman 817-617-1155 @ 42.25

4/9 Bill Heishman 214-675-9026 @ 72.75

4/1 Cameron Shirley 214-554-3120 @ 70.00

Due to poor weather, we will continue the competition for Fisherman of the Month for two more weeks. Current leaders are (Me), Rodney Lane and Eric Simien with John Stockman close behind. Winner will win a very nice Okuma brand travel spinning rod with travel case, easily valued around $100, plus bragging rights.

Last Thursday, April 2, turnout was great. Fishing, was so-so. Although it was great to be back on the water, the wind was a bit challenging. Only 13 total fish were caught out of 16 participants.

John Stockman, one of our Lake Grapevine veterans, won the total stringer with 42.25 inches and a $50 gift credit at Mariner Sails.

Karl Levin (hope I got the name right) only caught one, but it was the one that mattered! 21" won Big Bass for the night and a whole handful of cash!

More big fish were biting, as several fisherman reported big bites, but failed to land the fish.

This week we will be fishing at Marine Creek at the main north side boat ramp at 6:00. Wind is expected to be 10 - 20 mph, but there are several areas of the lake that are somewhat wind protected from a south wind. Arriving early will allow ppl extra time to get to their favorite spot before lines-in at 6.

Thanks again to Duc for donating a "bag of baits" for our Raffle after the tournament!

This is from Bill:

Last Thursday marked our first tournament of the year! Thanks to all that showed up. There were 17 total entries with 14 participants donating to the Big Bass and overall winner Erick Simien! He won Big Bass and the stringer prize with a 19.25" big girl and 89.25" total. Congratulations Erick! He had the right plan for the night.

24 total fish were logged.

Was great to see some new fishermen and a couple that we missed last year. Y'all come back!

Barring a North wind, our next tournament will be in the same place, Lake Grapevine, Katie's Woods. I do not plan to fish anytime there are consistent wind gusts over 15 mph. At this time, 3/26, does not look good for fishing. If the forecast changes, I'll post here. I am always available via text or IM if you have questions. April 3 is the next planned tournament unless the forecast changes for this week.

I do keep running totals for all fish caught. There will be a prize next month, donated by Duc Tran, for the highest total at the end of April. Winner will receive a very nice Okuma travel spinning rod with case! That one 12" fish you catch one week, may make a difference in the end, so report them all.

And of course, I always forget something! I forgot to take a group photo this week. I'll try to do better :-)

Who’s ready for the 2026 season!?!? This warm weather sure does make it tough sitting on the side lines!

Our season has come to a close, sadly. Rodney Lane was “Working Man Angler of the Year” with a combined total of 363.5 inches, winning a $100 gift credit from Mariner Sails. My total was 292.5. Blair Ragsdale had the next highest season total with 204.75 total inches, winning a $50 gift credit from Mariner Sails! Remember next year, every fish counts! Be sure to log them with whoever may be running the tournament. I’ll have help next year, maybe opening up some new locations that will be more accessible to ppl that were not able to fish this year.
