Exciting news! The Museum of Unity and Hope 2026 Speaker Series is here!

Join us this summer as local historian and educator Tim Krysl takes us on a journey through the Reconstruction Era and its lasting impact on the Twin Cities and surrounding communities. Tim will share the inspiration behind the Museum of Unity and Hope, provide context for the world Douglass High School was built within, and give us a community progress report on our fundraising campaign.

Three Wednesday evenings:
June 10 | July 8 | August 12
6:30pm – 8:00pm
Crystal City High School Auditorium
1100 Mississippi Avenue, Crystal City, MO 63019

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and be part of preserving history for future generations. We hope to see you there!

Want to support the museum? Donations are welcome, see the flyer for our donation QR code.

This year marks our 5th Annual Freedom Fun Day, and we’re proud to bring the celebration home to William Earl Cook Sr. Park on South Adams.

Our very first Freedom Fun Day was held at West City Park/Larry Crites Memorial Park, and now, as our community celebration continues to grow, we gather in a place filled with history and meaning.

The City of Festus renamed the park in honor of William Earl Cook Sr., with the dedication held in May 2025. Earl was born on South Adams and once lived where the park now stands.

Now we come home to celebrate freedom, community, culture, and unity together. ❤️🖤💚

We can’t wait to see everyone there!
