For years, I have carried a deep yearning, an ache, really, for the right people to build with. Innovators. Dreamers. The ones unafraid to challenge the status quo. I longed for a circle that didn’t shift the goal post every time I was about to score, a space that wouldn’t require me to sugarcoat the truth in order to belong.
My journey through the Jamaican industry has been both inspiring and frustrating. Inspiring, because it is rich with culture, talent, and boundless possibility. Frustrating, because too often the path is blocked by politics, gatekeeping, and the unwritten rules of who is “allowed” to move forward. Each “No” I heard along the way felt heavy, but I carried them.
Then came Sire.
Sire was more than a mentor, he was a guide who reminded me of the power of staying true to myself. He didn’t let me forget that vision without courage is just a dream. He challenged me to rise above the noise, to hold fast to integrity, and to understand that the right opportunity comes when preparation meets faith.
That opportunity came through Sizzla.
Sizzla’s music had always been more than sound, it was a movement. His voice carried the weight of truth, rebellion, and faith. When the chance came to partner with him, it was as though everything Sire had taught me was being put into practice. I wasn’t asked to dilute my vision or bend to fit a mold. Instead, I was given a real chance to do something transformative.
On September 20th, 2025, in Colorado, history was made. Against all odds, love, unity, and reggae music triumphed. That night, every rejection I had ever faced was stripped of its power. Every “No” became null and void, erased in the glow of a crowd united by rhythm and purpose.
It wasn’t just a concert. It was a statement. A living testament to how powerful our music is, how rich our culture remains, and how mentorship can shape destiny. As I stood in that moment, surrounded by music, unity, and love, I realized what Sire had been teaching me all along: the struggles were never roadblocks, they were the preparation for an historic achievement!
