Well, this is pretty cool. 😎

Triathlete.com named the 50 Best Triathlons in the U.S., one from every state, and **drumroll, please** TRI Clear Lake is their pick for Iowa!! 🙌🏻

This race has grown into something pretty special, and it takes a whole lot of people to make it happen. Our athletes, volunteers, sponsors, committee members and this community show up year after year and make TRI Clear Lake what it is.

Small town. Big race. National recognition. We’ll take it. ❤️

How fun is this. Three very important TRI Clear Lake ladies tackled some pretty amazing challenges this weekend!

Carrie Tysdahl - One of the TRI Clear Lake Race Directors completed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Nice, France!

Tiffany Townsend - Our Splash & Dash Race Director finished the Ironman Madison 70.3!

And, finally (and definitely not least), Jo Shannon of Skip's Kicks (one of TRI Clear Lake's title sponsors) finished her very first IRONMAN!

🏈 Today is basically an Iowa holiday…it's CY-HAWK Day!

Peeking through photos, we noticed quite a few athletes repping their team at TRI Clear Lake (although we have to admit, the Hawkeyes had a pretty significant numbers advantage 😂). One even took home an age-group win!

But does that mean anything for today? 👀

WHAT. A. WEEKEND. 🏊🚴🏃

A record number of young athletes joined us for Friday night’s Splash & Dash, followed by a record number of registered athletes for TRI Clear Lake on Saturday!

And, it takes a whole lot of (flexible) people to make a race like this happen. 🩵🩶🧡

Here come the thank yous (in no particular order).

To our volunteers who showed up, shifted schedules, changed assignments and rolled with every adjustment, THANK YOU.

To law enforcement, Emergency Management, fire departments and first responders who helped us navigate a challenging morning (stupid Mother Nature) and kept our athletes and community safe, SO MUCH GRATITUDE.

To our TRI Clear Lake Committee who spent months planning (and then had to adjust those plans😅), YOU'RE THE BEST!

To our sponsors and community partners who make this event possible year after year, WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

And to the Clear Lake community. thank you for your patience with road closures, delays and a race schedule that looked a little different than planned. And an extra thank you to everyone who came out to cheer, ring cowbells, and make our athletes feel welcome!

Finally, to our athletes and families who traveled from near and far. Thank you for trusting us, being flexible, and bringing an incredible attitude to race weekend.

Clear Lake Update: 9:30 AM Start | Sprint for ALL!

Good morning TRI Clear Lake athletes!

LET'S RACE TODAY! 🏊🚴🏃

There is lightning associated with the storm currently moving through the area, so please stay put and do not come to the race site yet. Please continue to watch the weather and your email for any additional updates.

Based on the timing of the storm and the support available from our volunteers and law enforcement partners, we are moving forward with a 9:30 a.m. race start.

IMPORTANT: ALL athletes will race the SPRINT distance today. This includes athletes registered for the Olympic distance.

Updated Schedule:
• 8:30–9:15 a.m. Transition Open
• 9:15 a.m. Pre-race Meeting at City Beach
• No Body Marking
• 9:30 a.m. Race Start
• SPRINT DISTANCE FOR ALL

We know many of you have traveled a long way to race with us, and our team has been working through every possible scenario this morning to safely give you that opportunity.

And we're having a race!

For now, stay dry, stay safe and stay put while this storm moves through. Please do not arrive before transition opens at 8:30 a.m. and continue watching your email for updates.

We know, we know. Mother Nature is being a BIT unpredictable.

Here's what we can tell you right now. We are going to do everything we possibly can to give you a race on Saturday morning. We are working with the National Weather Service, local law enforcement, and USA Triathlon to build contingency plans. Racing Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning are not options.

Our best advice is to watch this page and your email for updates. The final decision won't be made until the morning. So be flexible and ready!

In the meantime, enjoy Clear Lake, watch the kids' Splash & Dash at 6:30 p.m., and do a few anti-rain dances.
