Tea leaves were originally used for medicinal purposes such as detoxification. They were chewed rather than being brewed.

According to folklore, drinking tea was first discovered when the leaves from some tea bushes blew into the water that servants were boiling for Emperor Shennong to drink. The leaves went unnoticed, and the water was served to the emperor.

By the 5th Century, during the Tang Dynasty, tea drinking became a social convention all over China.

Market season is quickly coming upon us and we are getting prepared and ready for you! I want to thank everyone for their support last year of Loose Leaf by Kettle Creek! I throughly enjoyed getting to know everyone during the market weekends! I’ve been looking for ways to give back to our Chattanooga Community so this year a portion of our sales will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga. The Ronald McDonald House helps house families of children in nearby hospitals. Thank you all so much for your support and helping us help our community!
