Equilíbrio - Movement Culture Center is a unique studio bringing quality instruction and performance in Brazilian martial arts, Capoeira, AcroYoga, Dance, Music, Fitness, Culture and Yoga. Husband-wife team CM Neguinho (Elias Martins) and Professora Risadinha (Melinda Erickson-Martins) co-founded Upstate Capoeira upon their arrival to the Carolinas. They have a combined over 40 years of experience

in their art-forms. We are eager to use our experience to meet and exceed our clients' goals. Come join us today!

We no longer have our brick and mortar location in downtown Gastonia. Our classes are conducted in Greenville, SC at Raja Academy and in Charlotte, NC at Budokon Academy of Charlotte, 2935 Griffith Street in South End.

Mondays and Wednesdays we offer capoeira in 2935 Griffith Street Charlotte NC. This space is AMAZING and check out the other offerings with talented movement coaches certified in the lineage. Friends, Sadly we had to leave our downtown Gastonia location but classes continue. DM us for the location for Gastonia classes and we have continued our classes in Greenville, looking to expand in Spartanburg as well. See you there!

Day 4: Professora Minha Velha Dana Maman of Capoeira Batuque South Bay. This lady inspires me daily with her dedication to her craft and contribution to the capoeira community. There are many videos I could share, but this latest is so beautiful.
She has already released 2 capoeira CDs and is constantly creating, collaborating, teaching, performing and honing her skills. Easily one of the best percussionists in our capoeira community, , Profa Minha Velha is just as committed to her own and her own students' development in all aspects of the artform. Oh and beyond all that, she is a mother, wife, friend and sister to many of us. Thank you for all that you do. Congrats Professor Samambaia Bobby Easton for another beautifully produced piece of music. I truly am amazed at and inspired by the talent of these people that I have the privilege to call my friends.
