Good afternoon, Neighbors!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are prepared to have a great week ahead. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers! I hope your day was as special as each of you are. I’m also praying that comfort finds those who are still dealing with the loss of their mothers, as well as mothers who are grieving the loss of a child during this time. I understand the struggle, as this can be a difficult holiday for me as well.

I want to make you aware of a few things happening that may be of interest to you.

First, today we launch the first tier of our Community Care Program. Community Care hours will be every second and fourth Monday of the month from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. During that time, you are welcome to come and see what we have to offer. Clothing, shoes, boxed dinners, canned goods, pampers, baby wipes, and miscellaneous household items are available to anyone in need.

Thank you to everyone who has donated items to the church for the benefit of the community. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Second, this summer we will be holding our first Joyful Journey Summer Camp! Please see the attached flyer for details. This free eight-week camp begins Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and is intended for children, 6 to 12 years old, who reside in the Sunnyside and Riverside communities, as those communities are our focus.

For more information and final acceptance determinations, please contact Sis. Toni or Sis. Keke using the information provided on the attached flyer.

Lastly, to support the Joyful Journey Summer Camp and help offset expenses, we will be holding a car wash fundraiser. Come out on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and get your car washed in support of our children. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.

Many thanks to everyone who played a part in making our Spring Health & Resource Fair a success! Special thanks to Johnny Jernigan for your unwavering support and helping us out with food. COMMUNITY DINNER UPDATE!!!
Out of an abundance of caution due to the threat of severe storms forecast for Monday, we have decided to move our Free Community Dinner to the following week.

📅 New Date: Monday, March 23
⏰ Time: 4:30–6:30 PM
📍 Front Street Fish Company

The safety of our guests, volunteers, and team is very important to us, and we want everyone to be able to gather together safely.

We are so grateful for this community and the opportunity to share a meal together each month. We look forward to seeing everyone next Monday instead!

❄️ RCS WINTER WEATHER UPDATE ❄️

We are here for you! As the snow and wind move in, RCS is mobilizing to keep our neighbors safe and warm.

🏠 SAFE HAVEN & SHELTER:
Warming Station: Open 7 AM – 5 PM daily in our Community Kitchen.
Emergency Shelter: Open 5 PM - 7 AM daily.
We have increased shelter capacity.
Police Check-ins: Local police will be increasing campus patrols for everyone’s safety.

🍲 COMMUNITY MEALS (Open to Public):
Fri & Sat: Lunch 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM
Sun: Breakfast at 9:00 AM & Lunch 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM

🧥 PREP NOW:
Winter Wear: Pick up warm clothing in Client Services TODAY (1/30).
Food Pantry: Open now to help you stock up before the storm.

🤝 ADDITIONAL RESOURCE: Our partner, Highways & Hedges (1601 National Ave), also has its doors open (24/7) for those needing to get out of the cold.
