Deep Gratitude for Our Village — Ofrenda & INDABA 2025
Beloved Community,
Our hearts are still full from the 3rd Annual Just-Us INDABA: Birthing, Education & Healing Justice Summit and Ofrenda. This year’s gathering was a sacred reminder of what is possible when we come together in truth, protection, and collective care.
We give thanks for every caregiver, healer, teacher, artist, and advocate who showed up, not as attendees, but as part of a living network of love and resistance. Each of you helped weave a circle strong enough to hold grief, inquiry, joy, and transformation.
Dr. Stacey Pattonn offered a word that will stay with us: “Loving Black Children Like Revolt.” Her message called us to embody a love that is active, protective, and uncompromising, one that insists our children deserve safety, dignity, and freedom.
As we move forward, we are committed to:
Decolonizing our parenting and education practices,
Reclaiming Indigenous ways of being and knowing, and
Reimagining care as both a healing practice and a form of resistance.
To every hand that cooked, sang, prayed, danced, guarded, documented, and helped us make this gathering possible, we see you and we thank you.
We extend deep gratitude to our sponsors and partners, those who offered both in-kind and financial support, whose generosity made these gatherings possible. Your belief in our work allows us to create spaces that honor our ancestors, uplift our children, and sustain our collective healing.
