Well the sun has set on Tartan Day South Celtic Festival 2026 and it was a great event for the community and our team. A hearty thank you to the entire Tartan Day South Family for an incredibly successful festival over the 4-day run. A special thank you to our new presenting Sponsor Culpeper Wood for being that top partner that we have always wanted. They help not only with funding but their passion for the whole project is heartwarming. Thanks again to our Municipal partners the City of Cayce, the City of West Columbia, Lexington County and the Town of Lexington. The funding assistance makes this whole event possible. They allow to keep the ticket prices down and the level of event up. Thanks to all of our sponsors for their help and buy-in. Thanks to the amazing athletes who competed in heavy winds. Thanks to our bands, exhibitioners, vendors, our dancers, car show team, our colonial village group. This group went above and beyond to make the 250th Celebration a reality. And of course, thans our enthusiastic patrons who stayed and played all day. Thanks to the limited group of volunteers that worked so hard behind the scenes to make thing seamless for everyone. We ask a lot and you always come through.
As the team leader I get way too much credit for Tartan Day South. I wanted to share a salute one of the people that has made it all possible.
Walking around on Saturday, I ran into my lifelong friend Greg Pinner and his lovely wife Paula. Greg is a huge factor in the establishment of Tartan Day South and more importantly the Speedway concept. While working under Greg at the Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, I got involved with the Speedway group putting together the first Racers Reunion at the speedway in 2009. Greg really pushed to present the speedway as a possible event grounds for concerts and festivals. He had a vision of what the Speedway has become. His ideas spurred us to bring back the speedway in a new life. When we were putting Tartan Day South together, he was there to help us come up with funding concepts to make it work. TDS would not be where it is today without Greg Pinner.
We had a great reaction to rearranging the layout for better flow and to highlight the Clans who bring so much to the event. Their tents provide a range of color and help in sharing the incredible history of heritage shared by so many in our area. This concept was conceived by Richard Peterson our Marketing Coordinator. I think by all accounts a needed improvement. Jared Skinner is an all-star of our volunteer team from every angle. When something happens Jared takes it and makes it work. Christine Heady and her Husband Matt worked tirelessly all week keeping up with the infield and camping area. Our team working the trash receptacles for the event do an absolute incredible job of keeping the facility as clean as possible while we enjoy.
The Tartan Day South Team continues to work to make the festival as entertaining as possible for all of our visitors. We greatly appreciate your suggestions and comments. Please share your thoughts about Tartan Day South 2026 below.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU APRIL 1ST – 4TH 2027!!!
Thanks again for sharing your time with us, John Banks
