Juneteenth is a celebration born from both the pain and promise of America.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. That day became known as Juneteenth, a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is freedom denied, but also that hope can endure even through the darkest circumstances.

America's story is one of contradictions. It is a nation that has produced extraordinary opportunities while also carrying the weight of injustice. It represents both light and darkness, hope and despair, struggle and triumph. Juneteenth challenges us to acknowledge the full story, not just the victories, but also the sacrifices, resilience, and determination of those who kept pushing forward when freedom seemed out of reach.

Today, we honor the generations who fought for liberty, celebrate the progress that has been made, and recommit ourselves to building stronger communities for the generations to come.

Most importantly, Juneteenth is a celebration. It is a celebration of freedom, family, culture, faith, music, food, entrepreneurship, and Black joy. As we gather this weekend, let us celebrate the strength of our ancestors and the bright future that lies ahead.

Black Bartow Events is excited to welcome Alisha's Kitchen to Friendship Plaza in Downtown Cartersville on Saturday, June 20th, from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Black Bartow Events is excited to welcome Aubrey's Squishy Shop to our Music by the Tracks Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 20th, from 7 PM to 9 PM at Friendship Plaza in Downtown Cartersville!

At just 18 years old, Aubrey is already making her mark as a young entrepreneur. A recent graduate of Cartersville High School, she has turned her passion into a business that brings fun and stress relief to customers of all ages.

Be sure to stop by her booth and check out a great selection of hard to find authentic NeeDohs, Squeeezys, and other popular squishy toys and sensory items. Whether you're looking for the latest fidget craze or a unique gift, Aubrey's Squishy Shop will have something for everyone.
