The Binding of Fenrir
Watercolor, acrylic, ink, gouache, and colored pencils on Arches hot press watercolor paper.
A short summary of the lore of Fenrir, one of three children of Loki and Angrboda.
A prophecy was told that he would bring about great harm and destruction. A dweller of the marshes, he was brought to Asgard by the gods to be raised under their watch. None of the gods liked him, except for Tyr, who fed him and looked after him.
Unfortunately the pup grew very quickly, and became frighteningly, and ever increasingly large. Like, unnaturally giant.
So the gods would try to trick him into being bound, by testing his strength. He broke every binding.
Then the gods turned to the dwarves to have bindings made from impossible things. When they brought this to Fenrir he became suspicious as the bindings looked relatively delicate and lights.
So he only agreed to being bound if one of the gods would place their arm in his mouth.
Only Tyr would agree. And so he was bound, and he took Tyr's arm as a result of the betrayal.
You can read about this lore more in depth and the variation thereof online and in print, as there are near countless sources available. Just make sure the authors are real humans and not AI before spending your money. Neil Gaiman has an excellent book covering the subjects.
Prints will be making their debut at the Hot Springs Renaissance Faire Viking Festival this weekend! The weather will be great.
Also the usual online E to the tsy place you can obtain your very own frightful Fenrir print.
