Summer has gone by wicked fast, but I was lucky enough to get out on the big pond (Lake Michigan) on Keefer's boat - he is tuna master. We (he) caught our limit of king salmon + some bonus Lake Trout.

We have never found Chicken Of The Woods mushrooms in May before. Finding Morels and Chicken Of The Woods on the same hikes another 1st.

May 1st was National Trails Day. Marlene and I opted to bushwack for three hours and found a few morels—yahoo. We also found tons of toxic false morels (stems filled with foam) and beef steaks—yuck.

Unbelievable spring ski conditions yesterday in Ishpeming. No snow in Marquette. 2 feet of snow up in Ishpeming.

Two days of the best spring skiing, tons of swimming and hot tubbing. There were more people playing golf than skiing? Simon Chase is 5 and this was our 3rd annual ski trip. Lucky Pop Pop (Gramps).

March 3rd, 2024 - double the fun. A 3 hour ski on the last long stretch of snow in the county and a marathon dune hike from Glen Haven to Devil's Hole and back.

Ski and travel writers were introduced to Nordic Walking and Nordic Skiing yesterday at Forbush Nordic Center.

The best 2024 xc skiing in the Midwest, has been at Forbush - thanks to their massive snow making system covering 2 kilometers. All 30 kilometers should be open by Wednesday if the weather man is correct.

Marlene and I provided the Nordic Walking Instruction - utilizing the teaching progression of the American Nordic Walking System. Due to the lack of natural snow we were allowed to walk on the trails not open for skiing - allowing the group of ski and travel writers to experience the huge fun and benefits of Nordic Skiing and Nordic Walking.

* special note: PLEASE never walk on designated xc ski trails when they are open for skiing *

Successful Nordic Walking Class with a leg amputee yesterday. Our durable one-piece poles prove to be much more trust worthy than cheap/flimsy twist-lock and flip-lock 2-piece or 3-piece collapsible poles - especially those made in China.

This improved walking posture when combined with the unique 4-Wheel-Drive type action of walking with poles radically reduces the stress to the shins, knees, hips and back. Nordic Walking is low impact and yet provides a highly effective workout.
