💛 Community Update 💛

After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming LGBTQIA+ Speed Connections event at Quinntastic Bites in partnership with the Pride Community Center of the Brazos Valley.

Over the last eight months, we received a lot of requests to put on an event for this community, and when we first announced it, we had lots of excitement and interest from others. However, despite several weeks of promotion across all three of our organizations, only 5 of the 24 available spots were filled.

With ticket sales closing, it became clear that we would not reach the minimum participation needed to continue the event without creating additional financial losses for Brazos Valley Connections.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who signed up, shared the event, and supported the idea behind it. Putting yourself out there to meet new people takes courage, and we truly appreciate every person who was willing to participate. 🫶

We all wish we could meet that special someone while deciding which salsa we're going to put through our GI tract that night. Mild vs Medium vs ChatGPT am I dying?

We all wish going to Home Depot for a terracotta pot gift results in a coffee date the next week with the person who helped us find an easy-to-grow plant to go with it.

But life ain't a Hallmark movie and Bryan-College Station ain't the pods on Love is Blind.

So instead of waiting for someone to suddenly drop into your life, why don't you drop into theirs? Maybe you don't meet "The One" but maybe you'll dust yourself off and regain your confidence to get back out there and try again!

Congratulations on making through the first full week of May! (Crazy, we know). Would you like to make plans for mid-May? Because that's actually less than a week away (yikes!).

Quinntastic Speed Connections with the Pride Community Center is taking place next Thursday, May 14th, at 5:30pm at Quinntastic Bites. It's for, with, by, (and any other preposition you'd like) the LGBTQIA+ community.

We get it all the time.

Someone screenshots one of our posts. They share it with an old roommate on Instagram with a laughing emoji. They like it with a quick heart. They text it to their group chat and say "I think I'm going to do this if anyone wants to come." They click on the link and bookmark the site.

Then that email comes in with a problem that eats up their afternoon. That new colleague walks up and says they don't know how to do that thing. They need to pump gas. Return that package to Amazon. Pick up a curbside order. Walk the dog. Attend a training. Buy a suit/dress for that wedding.

And then we post the event's recap video. Their heart drops, cortisol dumps, and they kick themselves for not remembering to get a ticket, put it on their calendar, and show up.

Well, here's a little reminder, soft and gentle, that it's officially "later" than when you originally told yourself you'd get a ticket. Remember too that spots are limited, the food will be delish, and connections can take any form.

Did you know that we have an LGBTQIA+ Speed Connections event coming up on May 14th at Quinntastic Bites () in Downtown Bryan?

That's right, just 10 days away from meeting a bunch of folks who (like you) also want to meet new people and form authentic connections.

So whether you're looking for friendship, a chosen family, a network, or a date to the Mandalorian movie, you could find a match. But you can't get a match if you don't sign up! Tickets close on May 12th at 5:30pm, so don't wait.

Brazos Valley Connections is bringing something new and fun to Quinntastic Bites ()🌈

On Thursday, May 14 (5:30–7:30PM), we’re hosting a speed connections night in partnership with the Pride Community Center of the Brazos Valley (). We'll be focused on real conversations and real relationship-building.

If you’ve ever shown up to a community event and thought

This event is structured, low-pressure, and actually enjoyable. You’ll meet people from the local LGBTQIA+ community in organized, quick 5-minute rounds, so there’s no guessing who to talk to or trying to break into cliques. Speed Networking for Young Professionals has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with other networking events. I decided on the April 28 date months ago, but learned in recent weeks that there were two events scheduled for the same night, and three other events going on during the week.

It became financially impossible to proceed as a small one-person business with so much competition on the same night/in the same week. Refunds have been issued to ticket-holders. If you still have a networking itch for next week, here are the other events taking place:

1) 1 Million Cups Bryan/College Station is hosting a networking happy hour on Tuesday, April 28 at The Owl. Professional headshots will be available for a fee.

2) Wendy Flynn is hosting a Vendor Speed Dating event for realtors and vendors at Hush and Whisper Distilling Co. on Tuesday, April 28.

3) B/CS Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Community Happy Hour on Wednesday, April 29 at The Tacobar.

4) YPA - Young Professionals of Aggieland is hosting a networking social on Thursday, April 30, at The Cut Axe Throwing.

5) Aggieland Professionals BNI is hosting a networking lunch on Tuesday, April 28, at 11:45am at C&J Barbecue (Bryan location).

So many people post in community groups about struggling to find connections after moving here, and lots of young folks leave town after a few years because they could never grow roots locally. That's why we're proud to partner with the City of College Station on an event that helps promote local workforce retention and strengthen our Brazos Valley economy: Young Professionals Speed Networking.

Don't forget that all community/public servants get a $10 discount on tickets (making the final ticket price $15 for admission, light refreshments, and lots of connections!). Ticket sales close 24 hours before the event time as pre-registration and additional steps are required to facilitate event logistics.
