Yesterday a community came together on a rainy November day to celebrate ! Celebrate being a Brocktonian, ushering in the Holiday season, celebrating the community in which they live.Thousands of proud Brocktonians stood in the rain and watched over 70 marching units, incredible floats, performing bands and of course the arrival of Santa on an incredible float made by the students at South Eastern Regional High School. A statement was made.........................We love our city of Brockton and will come out in inclement weather to watch our children perform and celebrate the many accomplishments they are working so hard to achieve.
The people of Brockton should be proud of many things and most importantly, in a world filled with so much negativity, the people need ways in to feel good and positive about the community they live in....and so in the spirit of Mr. James Edgar, a philanthropist and businessman of Brockton, who 125 years ago became America's First Department Store Santa.......We acknowledged the hard work of Mr Bill McGauley by Honoring him with the James Edgar Award, who has worked hard for the children and families of Brockton, we listened to the incredible music performed by our world class Brockton High school band, we saw hundreds of smiling faces dressed up in holiday costumes, we saw thousands feeling good wearing their Santa Hats, feeling blessed and ready to celebrate Brockton during the Holidays.
Join us today in Downtown Brockton from 2-5 for Free Pictures with Santa Claus at Tuxedos by Merian, a treasure hunt on legion parkway and Tree lighting ceremony with our community chorus and BHS chorus singalong. Wear your Santa Hats!!!!!!!!!!!
