Bristol gets us twice. That's not an accident, this is where the Valhalla Wrestling Series was born.

The State Line Brawl (Dec 6) and the Bristol Brawl (Jan 10) both run at Viking Hall, the home venue, the original mat, and the reason the series carries the name it does.

While you're in town:
– Stand in two states at once on historic State Street, the literal TN/VA border. The iconic Bristol Sign ("Bristol Tennessee Virginia — A Good Place to Live") sits dead on the line. Grab coffee at Blackbird Bakery and walk the length of downtown
– Walk through the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate built around the 1927 Bristol Sessions, the recordings Johnny Cash called "the single most important event in the history of country music"
– Make a stop at Bristol Motor Speedway, "The Last Great Colosseum," one of NASCAR's most famous short tracks, with tours available year-round by appointment
– Tour Bristol Caverns just outside town, paved walkways through underground passages at a constant 60 degrees, ideal for a cold-weather afternoon

Thanksgiving weekend ends on the mat. The Beckley Brawl caps off the long weekend at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, deep in the heart of southern West Virginia.

While you're in town:
– Drive 30 minutes north to the New River Gorge National Park, America's newest national park. Stop at the Grandview overlook for a view of the iconic New River Gorge Bridge, 876 feet above the river and once the longest steel arch bridge in the world
– Spend a couple hours at Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, handcrafted Appalachian art, food, and goods all under one roof, right off I-77
– Bring younger siblings to the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia: interactive exhibits, a planetarium, and the Mountain Homestead, open year-round
– If the snow's flying, Winterplace Ski Resort is twenty minutes south for skiing, snowboarding, and West Virginia's largest snow tubing park
– Eat a Tudor's biscuit. Locals call it Tudor's. Tourists call it Biscuit World. Either way, you'll get the picture
