On Wednesday, September 24th, the California Statewide Codes and Standards Enhancement (CASE) Team will host an interactive webinar to gather input from industry stakeholders on proposed changes to the 2028 Energy Code for CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT HORTICULTURE [AGRICULTURE]. 🌱

This webinar is YOUR OPPORTUNITY to provide feedback and expertise on energy code measures that will directly impact the design, construction, and operation of greenhouses and indoor grows of all crops.

For each proposed change, they will be seeking your input in the following areas:
📈 Market Analysis
🏗 Technical Feasibility
🤑 Cost and Energy Impacts
👷‍♂️ Compliance and Enforcement

The CEH [CEA] portion of the webinar will run from 1:45-4:00pm PST.

Happy Pi Day from the whole Dr. Greenhouse team! We take this holiday berry seriously and hope you’re have a good day too. With Sam and Lydia tonight at Sacramento's Sutter Club to learn about "The Electrification of Heating" from Trane's experts.

My takeaways:
1. Heat pumps are more economical, efficient, and more capable of delivering high water temps when there is a simultaneous need for both heating and cooling.
2. Heat pumps are more expensive btuh-for-btuh than gas boilers. They may also be more expensive to operate in places with high electric utility rates.
3. New Gen heat pumps will have AL2 class rerigerants, which have ultra-low global warming impact, but are flammable...only if you hold a flame to it. (Those refrigerants are also a-hell-of-a lot less flammable than, say, natural gas.)
