Boxford Village Garden Club We strive to promote appreciation and understanding of earth-friendly gardening, civic beautification, floral design and horticulture in Boxford.

BVGC members maintain the grounds of several public locations in Boxford, provide garden therapy at Four Mile Village, decorate the Holyoke-French House for the Apple Festival, co-host the town's Earth Day. They also provide conservation and pollination information, make greenery for town buildings during the holidays, and deliver floral arrangements to Bread and Roses Soup Kitchen. The annual Plant Sale in May is the BVGC's biggest fundraiser.

ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, the Boxford Village Garden Club is proud to bring you the first of four speakers in the Deb Lambert Memorial Speaker Series as we launch Boxford's Pollinator Pathway in 2027.

Suzanne Korschun, of the Andover Pollinator Pathway, will speak at 10 Center Street, and tell you how they launched their Pollinator Pathway three years ago.

Pollinator Pathways are pesticide-free corridors of native plants that provide nutrition and habitat for pollinating insects and birds. Even the smallest of green spaces, like flower boxes, can be part of the pathway.

Boxford's Conservation Committe will tell you how we will get started here in town and offer a timeline for the spring of 2027. We are proud to be working with the Boxford Town Library and BTA/BOLT in a community effort to bring education and awareness to Boxford.

Join us on October 22! Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments. Suzanne started at 7:00 p.m.

Come to our General Meeting tomorrow and listen to our guest speaker Erin Pinkham, a local beekeeper and member of the Essex County Beekeeper's Association.

Erin will be speaking about beekeeping, honeybee by-products, and how they relate to native plants – the essential food and habitat for bees, butterflies and other beneficial wildlife. You will learn about the importance of honeybees (valuable managed pollinators), the benefits and responsibilities of keeping honeybees, and the essential equipment and care required to maintain a backyard hive.

Our doors open at 9:00 for social time and refreshments. The business meeting gets started at around 9:30, and our speaker usually gets started at around 11:00. We hope to see you there!

At the first meeting of the 2026-2027 club year, Judy McCarey presented a short horticultural discussion on native shrubs that benefit birds, and she brought samples. The main program was "Hope Grows at Home," in which wildlife biologist Bradd Tim, Ph.D., described simple, practical actions homeowners can take to support nature. Marge Hildebrand created the attractive fall arrangement that greeted attendees as they signed in.
