We had a great turnout and absolutely perfect weather for the 2026 Confluence Run. We had 8 boats and 18 people on the Friday pre-run to the confluence and another 7 boats to the dam, and 10 on Saturday with 24 people that went down river. I would like to thank our leaders Corey Chase, Jim Moore & Jason Whipple. We had 64 people for dinner with great side dishes. Jayne White won the drawing for the air ride seat - congratulations Jayne!

While it was a stellar weekend, it wasn't without a few bruises. πŸ˜–
On Friday, Shawn Schnitker found Shark's Tooth at the bottom of Granite. The rest of the way down to the trailer was touch-n-go, but a huge thank you to everyone that made it happen!

Saturday, Sarah Whipple hit in Cottonwood/Trion, resulting in a pretty good split in the bottom. Again, thank you to all that helped get safely back to the trailer!

Lastly, Mr. Skip Bailey parked his twin on the rocks at Kirby Creek. Thanks to Jordan Roberts for pulling him off safely.

We are asking for nominations for Boater of the Year etc. For now, if you would like to nominate one of the lucky candidates above, or if someone else deserves to take the trophy from Ron Ryan for the Silver Rock award, please send them to the Election Committee at [email protected]. The qualifier for the award is that the incident has to occur on a club run during the calendar year.

Heads up, Celebration Park Boaters!

The Celebration Park boat ramp at Melba is back open as of May 22nd following Phase I improvements β€” new ramp, docks, gangways, ADA access, and parking upgrades. It's a great step forward for access in the Birds of Prey stretch.

We know some of you have concerns. Yes, the ramp is shorter than ideal, and yes, there are some large rocks at the base of the concrete. Your feedback has been heard β€” Canyon County commissioners and Parks & Rec have been out to the site in person and acknowledge the issues. Donated rock is already lined up and available for riprap extension. Keep in mind, water levels are much lower this year due to the mild Winter and Spring months. Idaho Power is regulating flows to protect the water reserves for irrigation right now.

Here's the important part: please hold off on calling the county. Please refrain from contacting the county commissioners, Parks & Rec. etc. The WWA is actively working with the county to make sure Phase II addresses these concerns the right way.

Phase II is currently scheduled to begin in August 2026 when water levels drop, and will include a redesigned armored barb to protect the ramp and dock from scour and erosion. More improvements are coming β€” but only if we let the process work.

We'll keep you updated as things develop. For official updates from Canyon County, check:
