Be someone that is forever learning.
The moment you start needing to be right, you stop being able to learn. ⬇️
It happens slowly. You build expertise. You build a reputation. You build the version of yourself that knows things. Without realizing it, your mind starts filtering every new piece of information for whether it confirms or threatens that version.
This is documented in the published research. The mind is designed to defend identity, even at the cost of accuracy. That’s why “I might be wrong” is one of the hardest sentences to say out loud, even for people who pride themselves on being open.
Staying teachable is trained. You have to keep choosing it.
Humility is bandwidth. Every ego defense costs you mental real estate that could’ve been used for learning, listening, or connecting.
I’ve changed my mind on big things over the years. Each time, the version of me that came out the other side was sharper than the one who walked in. That’s the trade you make when you stay teachable.
Today, in one conversation, try saying “tell me more” instead of explaining what you already think. Watch what happens to the conversation. Watch what happens in your head while you listen.
This one’s worth saving. Send it to anyone who’s stayed curious into their next chapter of life. 🤝✨
