🍯🍂 Sorghum in the Mountains Festival: One of North Georgia’s Sweetest Fall Traditions Returns for TWO Weekends With Sorghum Making, Mountain Music, Appalachian Contests & Handmade Crafts!
📍 Sorghum in the Mountains Festival | Blairsville, Georgia
📅 October 10–11 & October 17–18, 2026
If you’ve never watched sorghum cane transformed into old-fashioned mountain syrup, this might be the North Georgia fall festival to put on your calendar.
For two October weekends, Blairsville celebrates its Appalachian heritage at Meeks Park, surrounded by the beautiful North Georgia Mountains.
And sorghum is just the beginning. 🍯
🌾 Watch traditional cane crushing and syrup making, including the fascinating process of boiling fresh cane juice down into rich sorghum syrup.
🪵 Cheer on old-fashioned Appalachian contests, with activities such as log sawing, pole climbing and biscuit-eating competitions adding some wonderfully quirky mountain fun.
🎻 Listen to bluegrass and traditional mountain music, and watch cloggers keep another piece of Appalachian culture alive.
🧵 Wander through the artisan market, where regional makers bring pottery, handmade crafts and other mountain-made goods.
🍯 And whatever you do, try the sorghum. A warm biscuit with butter and fresh sorghum syrup might be reason enough to make the trip.
Saturday, October 10 adds even more festivities, including the Sorghum in the Mountains Parade in Downtown Blairsville and the Sorghum Stomp Kickoff Concert at Grandaddy Mimm’s Distilling Co.
Then the festival returns for a second full weekend, October 17–18, giving you another chance if you can’t make opening weekend.
