A school board member's term begins at the board's annual meeting in July following the member's election. Before beginning their duties, elected school board members are required to take an oath of office.

The North Dakota Secretary of State has an oath of office form that can be used by school districts. Completed oaths of office are filed with the school district's business manager. Access the form in the comments section below.

More information about school board election statutes, including the oath of office, can be found in N.D.C.C. 15.1-09.
