✨ Long post and announcement ✨
For those who have been here for a long time, you might remember where it all began for me —
handcrafting wood signs at home while raising babies.
Not long after that, I opened Selah Mercantile in Benton as a multi-vendor shop (currently the Benton Boutique). My hope was to create a place where local makers and small business owners could sell their work without the pressure and overhead of running their own storefront. It was such a special season and I’m still so grateful for everyone who was part of it and all the things I learned along the way. There is a very special place in my heart for all small business owners especially those with a brick and mortar after experiencing what it’s like first hand and what goes into it behind the scenes ♥️
But running a storefront while also hand-making products — all with three little ones at home and planning for our fourth — quickly became more than I could carry at that time. So I stepped away from the shop and focused on my family.
I never truly stopped creating though. Heartwork has quietly continued over the years in the in-between moments of motherhood — making things when I could, doing a market here and there, and following whatever creative project I felt pulled toward.
Now my youngest is almost four, and I feel that familiar spark again.
The truth is, I’ve realized I don’t fit neatly into one creative box. I love to DIY, paint, thrift, garden, bake, can food, learn new skills (currently learning to sew), and make things with my hands. Our home has slowly turned into a little small-scale homestead full of creative chaos — and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Because of that, Heartwork Creations is becoming Selah Mercantile again 🤍
Not as a storefront this time, but as a space that reflects all the things I love:
handmaking, homemaking, gardening, thrifting, homesteading, and creating a life with intention.
Over the past few months I’ve felt the Lord stirring something new in my heart. At church this year our word has been Harvest, and our messages have centered around Seeds of Life — to hear, accept, and produce.
These messages are truly speaking to me!
For a long time I’ve dreamed of having a small farm stand here on our property. A place to share what we grow, make, bake, and create with our hands. A place rooted in community, creativity, and faith.
I’m still praying through what that will fully look like, but I know this much — the seeds are being planted.
Selah means to pause/praise & reflect…
This season has been a little bit of Selah for me too.
A pause to listen, plant seeds, and see what the Lord chooses to grow next.
Thank you for being here and following along as this next chapter begins. 🌿
