Whether you’re traveling from across town or across the country, we’re excited to welcome you to the Hiatus family.

Here are some notes around installation at our shop in Bellingham, WA.

• We partner with a local hotel for a special discounted rate and complimentary shuttle service
• We love to share our curated guide for local activities, trails, and campgrounds (including GPS coordinates for favorite dispersed camp sites you won’t find online)
• You have a private lobby available throughout installation where you can store belongings, get some work done, and watch install happen.
• Hiatus is a dog friendly shop so feel free to bring your pet!
• Install usually takes 5-6 hours. During this time you can hang in your private lobby, head into town, or hit the local trails and beaches.
• Once installation is complete we provide a full walk through
• Each camper is backed by a 2 year repair or replace warranty. We manufacture in-house, so you’ll always deal with real team members without having to wait for parts shipped from overseas.

Truck, you look good, won’t you back that thang up?

We now have truck-specific backup camera mounts available!

When upgrading from the tailgate door to the single, double, or asymmetrical back doors, one trade-off was forgoing the integrated backup camera. So we created a solution.

Hiatus now makes tilt adjustable camera mounts to be installed on top of the license plate or below the back door frame.

You can include this in your build for install day, or if you already have your Hiatus camper, you can purchase through our Gear Shop on our website.

These are custom made to order in our shop. If you don’t see your truck model listed yet, reach out. We just need a few measurements to make sure it’s a proper fit for you.

Don’t exhaust yourself trying to stay warm at night. Winter is a beautiful time to camp, whether you’re chasing fresh powder turns or enjoying the quiet pleasure of falling snow ❄️

We offer a few options to keep things toasty inside. 🌡️Our propane package is the most popular because our campers are built with materials that don’t build condensation like tent toppers.

While we do not offer diesel heaters or other forced air systems at this time, we can install the exhaust port. 🙌🏼This warm air ducting port is 60mm in diameter. It is the exit route for your system and can be installed in many places.

Please note that this is the port only and the customer is responsible for plumbing the system. Let us know if you’d like recommendations for where to get a system installed!

How much weight can the Hiatus roof carry?
Can you stand on the roof?
Can you pop it open with gear on top?
The answer depends on your rack system and how you load it.

Your roof rack system determines the rated load capacity of your setup. We recommend distributing loads across the tracks and crossbars rather than placing concentrated weight directly on the roof panel.

Each Hiatus camper is integrated with 6’ long Yakima tracks in the roof frame, with options to extend the entire length of the roof. The track is a standard T-slot extrusion.

We’re Yakima dealers and can help you find the right setup for your gear, from RoundBars and CoreBars to JetStream and HD bars.

We don’t recommend standing directly on the roof panel. Roof racks and tracks help distribute loads.

Removable gear needs to come off before raising the roof, but permanent fixtures can stay. Our lift-assist has struts are tuned to the weight of permanently installed roof accessories such as tracks, racks, fans, and solar panels. Adding removable cargo changes that balance and can make lifting difficult. Once the camper is raised, reaching your gear is also a challenge.
