😍Hey! It’s a new year and I thought I’ll introduce myself for all the new people!
💃My name’s Irina Kazakevic, but this year, I’m going by Fia. Yep, that’s my nickname!
I’ve been living in Canada for over 30 years, more than half my life. Have I fully adapted? Kinda, though I still enjoy conversing in my native Russian and connecting with folks who share similar outlooks on life.
I see teaching as my calling in life. Started out teaching dance and music back in my pedagogical college days. Then transitioned to piano and music theory lessons. Currently, I’m still at it, teaching as a Grade 4 teacher in a middle school.
🧘♀️I’ve been passionate about yoga since my university days. In 1993, while expecting my eldest daughter, I began practicing on my own. Since then, yoga has been a constant in my life, only growing more meaningful.
I completed my first yoga training and became a certified RYT 200 yoga teacher in Canada in 2007. Same year, got my RCYT certification for teaching kids’ yoga at the Kripalu Yoga Center in the US.
🤸♂️I opened a company called Well-Being Yoga and from then on, I’ve been a yoga and well-being advocate, teaching classes, conducting workshops, offering teacher training and professional development within my school system. I also took part in professional conferences, and taught yoga to both kids and adults at school and my home studio in Mississauga.
In 2009, I furthered my knowledge, becoming an Ayurveda Yoga specialist at the Himalayan Yoga Institute in Pennsylvania, USA.
🔥2014 marked the start of my second yoga teacher training with Rod Stryker, Para Yoga in the US. Completing 11 Yoga Master Training courses, I gained accreditation as a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 instructor.
In 2015, I trained as a facilitator in The Four Desires method, focusing on Sankalpa and Dharma (intentions and life purpose).
❤️My work in kids’ yoga led me to establish the Yoga Break for Children school in 2015. That journey included creating an online course, teacher training for kids’ yoga, and publishing Kids Yoga Units, a collection of 52 yoga lesson plans for children.
