Thank you to everyone who spent Friday night with us. Week by week, you’re turning this gathering into a genuine dance community, and it’s a pleasure to watch.

A funny thing happens when people dance together every Friday.

They stop being a crowd and start becoming a community.

The Grange will be quiet this Friday, and frankly, that won’t seem right.

There will be no Friday Night Dancing on September 4 while everyone enjoys the Labor Day weekend. But on September 11, the music returns, the doors open, and our Friday night friends gather again.

We want the familiar faces back and a few new ones, too. If someone you know has been meaning to join us, send them this post and bring them along.

Before it was a dance hall, the Fairfax Grange was built in 1940 by Kern County farmers and ranchers who pooled their spare change to raise the hall. It's the last active Grange in the county, and we're trying to reconnect with the ag community that started it. Valley Ag Voice ran this piece on where we've been and where we're headed. If your family has roots in Kern County farming, we'd love to hear from you.
