Attempted something new for our good friend . Logo turned into a 3D-printed mold, silicon poured into the mold, and voila a stamp! Will hopefully regime the process to not lose logo details, but for a first try I'm pretty pleased with the results. Let me know if you need a custom stamp made.

This turned out better than it should have given the design mistakes I made and the printing error that split the base. The next version is still being edited in .official but the plan is to print a base and paint it gold, print the white ball and red laces, then print the black and red letters and details. Everything will be attached and fitted together a bit better than this version, which took some pounding to put together. Should be a little more bling for the ballers at to sport at their tournament play.

CNC ability unlocked...we'll, after I get it out of the box, assemble it, assemble the frame, calibrate it, and figure out how to actually use it.

This was a first attempt at a compatible jibbit. It is made up of a two-color 3D print modeled in the free .official 3D software including wells for UV resin. The resin cures for a few minutes, and out comes the completed piece. Looking forward to making more custom versions of these for other Bogg Bag owners.

Sometimes the final product doesn't adequately communicate the work involved to create it. In this case I took an existing logo, modeled it in 3D using .official as two separate pieces, then printed the pieces each with two colors of filament on the new Marathon. Finally, combining them by squeezing them together with a nice tight fit. The final product turned out great, and was a big hit with the team at the swim meet this last weekend.

I told the recipient of this water tower candy holder that this was a first draft. It looks great on first glance but there are little things about the design and printing that could be improved. One thing I'm still learning is how to model to reduce the number of supports (those white, tree-looking things) necessary. There are also considerations for how people will use the object; the lid of the water tower is nearly impossible to pick up off a flat surface. It is a lot of fun to be able to iterate on my designs though.

This is what the iterative process looks like for 3D modeling and printing. Bottom-left to bottom-right, then top-left to top-right. Design based on an existing object (fail), tweak the printing parameters (fragile success), print multiples with design tweaks (failure x4), redesign for stability (rough success), tweak the printing parameters (success), optimize the design (stylish success). The big question is who knows what these are?

First craft show, and it shows. I clearly need to improve my display game. I'll be here at Ridgecrest Baptist Church for the "Multiple Choices for the Children" Holiday Market until 2pm. Stop by and view my wares or just chat for a while...maintaining social distance of course.

Experimentation happens a lot around here. First attempt at a stencil worked great, but will probably have a few iterations before it is perfected. Printing things in unconventional or different ways (like an upside-down hat) can yield improvements or, in this case, show you what not to do in the future.

3D printing text is surprisingly easy. We're having people over tomorrow, and I wanted to make our house number a little more visible. This free font happens to be a personal favorite, commissioned by , called "Red Hat Display". For outdoor applications I recommend PETG filament as it is a little less susceptible to warping from the sun. It also has a "soft" feel to it rather than a typical harsh plastic feel.

Lots of interesting things being made around here despite the isolation. Wood projects have included four bookshelves from (search "kids storage bookshelf") to help organize the "Lego Library" and an assortment of experiments with French cleat organization in the garage. has had some fun cookie cutter requests to be in the lookout for. Gave a puzzle the Midge Podge ( ) treatment. Have been trying out fermenting hot sauce, pickles, and most recently put some mustard seed from in the brine. Finally, I've also lost some weight, and figured an updated picture was in order in my new .official shirt.

I could claim that increasing my printing capacity was the reason to add new printer, but mostly it was to try something new. This is the Sapphire Pro from Shenzhen Twotrees Technology. It is a CoreXY printer, so the head moves on the X and Y while the bed moves on the Z. Looking forward to doing some upgrades on it to really take it to the next level.
