Shorthorn Nation is for people who were on the staff of The Shorthorn and other student publications when they were students at the University of Texas at Arlington, and for UTA professional staff members who worked with those publications. Alumni who worked on the staff of The Shorthorn, Renegade, Reveille, Tempo, Prism or any other Student Pubs publication are part of the heart of the Shorthorn

Nation alumni group. In the past couple of years, we’ve organized into the Shorthorn Nation alumni group, and we’re developing ways to grow that network. In a 2010 survey, Student Pubs alumni said the top priorities for Shorthorn Nation should be raising funds to support Shorthorn staff scholarships and operations, develop a jobs board, plan a reunion and develop a mentoring program linking alumni and current Shorthorn staff. That resulted in a staff reunion, the Shorthorn Nation Jobs Board ... and priorities for the new Shorthorn Nation Alumni Group. If you are a Student Pubs alum, here are several ways to build the Shorthorn Nation alumni group and help The Shorthorn. KEEP IN TOUCH
Join the Shorthorn Nation Facebook Group to receive things of interest to and communicate with other Student Pubs alums. (If you want to receive content from The Shorthorn, “Like” The Shorthorn Newspaper page. And if you were a Shorthorn editor-in-chief, there’s yet another Facebook group just for you.) We’re like a big, diverse, multigenerational family; we want to know what’s happening in your life. WAYS YOU CAN HELP CURRENT SHORTHORN STAFFERS
• Need an intern, freelancer or part-time staffer? Send the information to Will Parchman so we can let students know about the opportunity.

• Donate to Shorthorn Scholarships, so we can continue to provide staff with the same training, convention experiences and financial support that we provided to staffers when you were here. Go to https://giving.uta.edu/Give to make a scholarship donation online. Be sure to select Other and specify Student Publications Only as your designated donation area. (Or contact Will Parchman.)

• Volunteer to lead a training session for Shorthorn staffers learning to do what you already know how to do, or to mentor individual staff members. This provides financial support for Shorthorn staff operations ... but also is the best way to market your business, event or service to the 47,000 UTA+ students, faculty and staff. Go to http://www.theshorthorn.com/ads for more information. FRIENDS HELP FRIENDS FIND JOBS
The Shorthorn Alumni Jobs Board allows people looking for jobs to find out about them and people who know about job openings to share the information with other Student Pubs alumni. Join the Shorthorn Alumni Jobs Board Facebook Group. If you want to post a job opening on the board but don't have a Facebook account, send the information to Will Parchman. HELP SHAPE THE SHORTHORN NATION
The Shorthorn has been here since 1919; the Shorthorn Nation Alumni Group, not so long. As we develop and grow our alumni network, we want to keep our alumni in the know as much as possible. We're sharing alumni news and information via the Shorthorn Nation page and through a new alumni newsletter.

Facilities made us this nice art piece out of the sign in the old foyer at the top of the stairs; it's finished out with trim pieces salvaged from the office as well.

Here is the 4K UC Construction Cam that you can add to your YouTube subscriptions. Word on the street is that demo will begin around June 1.

Scroll around and you might see me loading crates of Canon camera components yesterday.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Well... we're starting the packing process. 🥹

We will take detailed photos of the office before the full decommissioning, but let me know if there is anything in particular that you'd like to be captured — we'll take them and make a gallery of wallpaper-sized images.

And, since we revealed it to the party attendees earlier today, here's where we're moving (along with a multitude of other Student Affairs departments): The Continuing Education and Workforce Development Building on the southeast corner of Mitchell and Spaniolo.

Our space is an open concept room that is as large as the newsroom + the breakroom + the photo studio, plus a few pro staff offices and a shared work area. The ceilings are about 12' high, there are windows (!), student parking is right across the street — and it doesn't flood.

We are still working on the layout, but we will bring over some of our furniture to augment the existing modular desks. Rest assured, we have a lot of plans to make it homey with meeting spaces, Shorthorn art, a hangout zone, framed award-winning photos, plus all of the heirloom tchotchkes you've come to expect in the office (well, most of them).

We will cut out the back wall of the "old" newsroom with the orange paint and silver letters and will mount it somewhere in the new space as a prominent objet d'art.

Here is a photo of the new office when we brought the current staff over a few weeks ago for a tour. The newsroom will be on the north side (far end of the photo); ads, marketing and production will be on the south/near side of the photo.

Thanks for attending the Move-Out Party today, y'all!

I know we ran out of desk coaster mementos and everyone wasn't able to get one, but scheduling time on the laser cutters has been a bit of a challenge at the end of the semester. I will save some more counter scraps and will make more over the summer when it is less busy in the FabLab.

We will have a Saturday Homecoming Get Together once we are settled in the new building where we'll have more coasters available — and maybe we'll save a few for guest speakers or startup training volunteers... ;)

If anyone took photos they would like to share, please share them to adrew@uta and I will add them here. Thanks!
