As Colúr gets ready to head out on tour, we’re introducing the musicians behind the music. Today we’re featuring Ben Roberts — fiddle, bouzouki, guitar, and vocals.

Ben is a multi-instrumentalist, educator, and composer with a strong focus on traditional Irish music. Originally from Denver, he is now based between New York City and Boston.

He can be found most nights of the week playing shows or leading sessions across the Irish and Old Time scenes of New York and Boston.

He performs regularly with Brendan Hearn (The Good Folk), Jake James (The Consequences), and Aidan Scrimgeour (Pumpkin Bread), among others.

Ben studied Contemporary Improvisation at the New England Conservatory (2022) and Cello Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music (2020). . He has also stufied with respected musicians including Melissa Kraut and Liz Knowles, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists throughout the traditional music world. He can be found every Tuesday night playing tunes and singing songs at Putnam’s Pub in Brooklyn.
We’re delighted to have Ben bringing his music, energy, and rhythm to Colúr on tour.

There's just ONE MORE DAY to register your kids for Redwood Music Teen Camp! Ben, Autumn, and Joe (in addition to the fabulous John and Tyler W**d, Shelley Phillips, Renata Bratt, and Fox Pettinotti) will be teaching there starting June 14. It's an amazing week of music and friendship surrounded by the beautiful redwoods of Aptos, California.

Joe Coo-ley is not impressed with the buffet and drink options at the Vistula Hotel.
That's okay, because Joe's in for some great drink options when he joins us at The Green Room in Placerville, CA on June 28! Maldon will be teaching a set dancing workshop for all levels at 2 PM, and at 5 PM we'll have a combination session and céilí. Hope you can join us! 🎶 Colúr is going on tour! 🎶

You know Joe Cooley… but do you know the other band members? Today we’re featuring Autumn Rhodes — flute, concertina, and vocals.

Many of you already know Autumn from her wonderful Facebook posts and the group Comhaltas Interruptus, but here’s a little more about her musical journey:

Autumn Rhodes was raised in a household full of Irish music. At the age of 12, while living in rural Indiana, she received a tin whistle for her birthday and took to it right away. She hasn’t looked back since — beginning to perform professionally the very next year.

Over the years, Autumn has toured throughout the United States with bands including The Jammy Dodgers, Soltré, Míra, The Emperor Norton Céilì Band, The Colleens, Edington, Barton, & Rhodes, The Bardic Apostles, Gránna, The Golden Gate Céilí Band, Kennedy’s Kitchen, and The Wrenboys.

She has played for Irish dance groups including Christmas in Killarney, Siamsa, Celtic Fire, and Kaleidoscope, and has collaborated with Julie Henigan, Liz Hanley, Anna Colliton, and many others.

She now lives in New York City where she teaches music and performs with several bands and artists.

Joe Coo-ley has landed in a flyover state for a few days and is checked in at the historic Vistula
Hotel. He decided to try to hit on some of the other guests, but they were pretty quiet.

Did you know that the humans of Colúr are going to be teaching a day of music and dance workshops in Placerville, CA on June 27? Stay tuned for more info (and to join the workshops -it'll sound better if we're all tuned up)

Joe Coo-ley is delighted to be embarking on his journey west today! He's waving a wing to his home in New York and can't wait to meet new friends in California.
