Creative Avenue NW Creative Avenue creates markets, retreats, and gatherings designed to bring people together.

Focused on connection, creativity, and meaningful experiences for artists, makers, and the community. Creative Avenue began as a way to bring artists and community together through curated markets, and that heart is still at the center of everything we do. After closing our storefront at The Creative Hub & Coffeehouse in 2025, we returned to those roots while also expanding into new ways of gather

ing. Today, Creative Avenue focuses on thoughtfully curated makers markets, creative retreats, and community-centered experiences across Skagit Valley and beyond. Our goal has always been simple: create spaces where people can connect, discover meaningful goods, and feel part of something. You’ll see us hosting events like Summer MakersFest, Creative Reset Weekends, and other collaborations throughout the year.

I’ve been spending a lot of time lately behind the scenes getting excited for Summer MakersFest and I already love the artists who are going to be there! Such a fun mix and variety of products... plus really good quality people! 💛

We’ll have everything from original artwork, pottery, handmade clothing, stained glass, journals, candles, tea, botanical skincare, garden art, hot sauce, watercolor illustrations, crochet plushies, handcrafted jewelry, lemonade, slow fashion, woodwork, and so much more.

One of my favorite parts of hosting markets is seeing how different and unique everyone’s work is. So many of the artists joining us create one-of-a-kind pieces, use reclaimed or locally sourced materials, or have really thoughtful stories behind what they make.

We’re still filling a few final vendor spots and I’ll be announcing the full vendor lineup next week, so stay tuned for more artist introductions!

For the last couple of months, I’ve been quietly working on a little side quest...

I’m starting to write a book all about the world of art markets. Not just from the market host perspective, but for artists, makers, and creative people who have thought about vending, hosting a market, or simply want to understand how this whole weird little world works.

When I started hosting markets back in 2021, I had such a hard time finding good information on how to host a good market.

There were a few YouTube videos with tips, but most felt pretty vague. I kept wishing there was a better resource that talked about what actually works, what doesn’t, the mistakes people make, the behind-the-scenes logistics, and the things nobody tells you until you’re already waist deep in all of the planning details and vendor emails 😅

Between hosting markets over the last five years and my background in wedding planning and events before that, I’ve learned so much through the hands-on experiences (good, bad, and all of the WTF moments).

AND... for putting a book together, I realized I don’t want this to just be my perspective.

I would LOVE to connect with seasoned vendors, market hosts, and people who’ve spent quality time in the art market world to hear your stories, lessons learned, biggest surprises, favorite moments, hard-earned advice, and the things you wish people knew before jumping in.

If that sounds like you, I’d love to chat!

I've put together some initial information and questions on my website here... and for those interested in having a deeper conversation, I'd love to schedule some time to chat!

https://www.creativeavenuenw.com/market-insights

And if you know someone who has been in the market world forever and probably has stories for days, please send this link their way 🙂

The book still has a long way to go. For any stories submitted on the link above, I'll reach out to you directly to get your permission to use certain stories in the book before it ever even reaches the first round of edits!

A little heads up for any artists & makers who might still want to join us for Summer MakersFest 👀

We have a few final booth spaces left for the market on Saturday, July 25th in La Conner!

Available spaces are:
1) A few upstairs booth spots (accessible by elevator or stairs, with booth sizes ranging from 8x2.5' to 12x5')
2) A few consignment spaces on the main floor near the welcome desk

We are currently full for jewelry, candles, ceramics, and body products, but I still recommend getting your name on the waitlist if that’s what you create. Things shift sometimes and we’ll absolutely reach out if a space opens up in your category.

While I did try to change the subject line this week, my newsletter platform glitched a LOT when I was putting it together today.

Hopefully it still went through!

The subject line was supposed to be: How the Joy Theory connects to my creative chaos...

Ah well. If you subscribe to my newsletter, hopefully it landed in your inbox, even if it is the same subject line as last week - I promise there is some new stuff.

Like... what I'm currently hiring for! The free info call this Friday. Last call for Holiday Market vendor applications. More vendors joining us at Summer MakersFest...

If it didn't land in your inbox, hopefully I can figure out how to fix the glitch next week. Luckily, you can also review the newsletter directly here: https://wix.to/jnfBaP6

Have you ever thought about hosting your own craft fair? I mean, how hard could it really be?

Maybe your vision includes an artisan market. A holiday market. A makers market. Something for your small town or area. Something community-focused. Something that feels more thoughtful than what already exists.

But you are stuck on...

How do you choose a venue? How do you price out the booth fees? How many vendors do you actually need? How do you get people to show up? And what does it really take to pull something like this off?

Tomorrow I’m hosting a free live info session to help give you a little behind-the-scenes overview of what it really takes.

This is not a deep dive or “here’s everything you need to know in 30 minutes.”

It’s a realistic overview of what actually goes into hosting a market and the things worth thinking through before you jump in.

We’ll talk about:
- choosing a venue
- booth pricing
- vendor applications & curation
- what makes markets successful
- common mistakes first-time hosts make
- what people usually underestimate

📅 Friday, May 22nd, 2026
🕒 11 - 11:30AM PST
💻 Free LIVE call on Zoom

Can’t make it live? Sign up anyway. Everyone who registers will receive the recording afterward.

If you can join live, I’ll leave time at the end for questions too.
