Official Statement From Anthro New Mexico and the abqfg
Over the past several months, members of our organization, our convention, and our leadership have been subjected to repeated public harassment, mockery, rumor spreading, and targeted hostility from individuals and groups within the community. The screenshots and public comments speak for themselves.
Anthro New Mexico was created to build a positive, inclusive community centered around charity work, creativity, and bringing people together ,not endless personal vendettas, manufactured drama, or coordinated gossip campaigns designed to damage reputations and undermine community projects.
Much of the behavior we have witnessed appears intentionally designed to defame and sabotage both our nonprofit and convention efforts. It is deeply disappointing to see individuals who publicly claim to support openness and inclusion engage in toxic manipulation, intimidation, exclusionary behavior, and attacks against others within the community.
We believe communities should be built on transparency, accountability, respect, and inclusion, not fear, harassment, or social pressure that discourages people from speaking openly. That type of environment is unhealthy for everyone involved and goes directly against the standards and values we uphold as an organization.
Despite the constant hostility, our focus remains unchanged: supporting our community, growing our convention, furthering our charity initiatives, and creating a welcoming space for everyone who wants to participate in good faith.
Anyone is welcome in our community regardless of background, clique, or personal history, so long as they treat others with basic respect.
We are asking publicly and clearly for the harassment, rumor spreading, and personal attacks to stop so the community can move forward in a healthier direction.
