This awesome annual event features radio controlled model aircraft in our efforts to promote model aviation and celebrate the rich heritage of military aviation. West Texas Warbirds is a real treat for modelers and spectators alike and will feature military aircraft from several countries in campaign colors and markings for a special, model airshow spectacle. Model aircraft pilots from Texas, New

Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and other states are expected to bring their best fighters, trainers, bombers and transports from early aviation to present day. The Abernathy Aerodrome features a big, 1000'+ x 45' newly paved, hard surface runway with spacious startup area, taxiway and a new covered pit area. The sky in West Texas is also big without obstructions or dangers of trees or powerlines. As a quality flying site, it doesn't get much better! Visiting spectators will really enjoy the event. The best viewing times will be during Saturday's action, from around 10:00am - 4:00pm. Fans will have the opportunity to view the aircraft up close, talk to pilots, and vote in the "People's Choice" award on Saturday at noon. Be sure to bring your camera, lawn chairs and sunscreen. Food and drinks will be available on site. Please understand that flying activity is heavily dependent on good weather. With moderate temperatures and low winds, the flying action is almost non-stop!
