Dr. Anusak Kongmalai, DDS, as Its 2nd President
Advancing Thailand Toward a Global Medical & Wellness Tourism Hub
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Private Hospitals Association Meeting Room, Chalerm Phrabaramee Building, Soi Soonvijai, New Phetchaburi Road, Bangkok, the Thai Medical and Wellness Tourism Association (TMWTA) held its Annual General Meeting to report its performance to members and to elect a new Board of Directors.
A total of 17 board members were elected to serve for the 2026–2029 term. The Board unanimously appointed Dr. Anusak Kongmalai, DDS as the 2nd President of the Association, succeeding Dr. Prabha Wongpait, the founding President who has led and developed the Association’s mission for over 14 years.
🧭 A New Leader with National-Level Experience
Dr. Anusak Kongmalai is a co-founder of TMWTA and previously served as Secretary-General and Vice President of the Association. He also brings extensive national leadership experience, having served two terms as a Senator (2008–2011 and 2019–2024).
In addition, he held the position of Secretary to the Senate Committee on Tourism, where he played a key role in advancing the agenda of medical and wellness tourism into national policy discussions, as well as organizing forums to strengthen Thailand’s service and trade industries and enhance global competitiveness.
🚀 Vision: Continuing and Elevating to the Global Stage
Upon assuming his new role, Dr. Anusak Kongmalai expressed his gratitude to the Board and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the Association’s mission. He emphasized the importance of TMWTA as:
A key mechanism for generating national income
A central platform for public–private collaboration
A network hub connecting stakeholders in the Medical & Wellness Tourism industry
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening regional and international partnerships to elevate Thailand’s role as a
“Global Medical & Wellness Tourism Hub” in a tangible and distinguished manner.

Under the leadership of the new President, TMWTA will focus on:
Promoting cluster integration among industry operators
Advancing health innovation and technology, including Digital Health and AI
Elevating standards and international accreditation
Supporting knowledge development and training programs in Medical & Wellness Tourism
Positioning Thailand as a leading global destination for health and wellness tourism
