Thank you for the encouragement!

My approach?
Strength-based, Play-based, child-led, highly-musical. With
-16+ years of clinical experience in music therapy,
-a decade of mothering as the main caregiver of 4 children (with no village to support),
- full time work experience in early intervention and sped setting (with caseloads up to 140 students per week!!!)
- deep understanding in early childhood development, sensory and emotional needs of neurodivergent populations
- speak and walk the talk
- neurodiversity affirming (I don’t use timer but visual schedules, I model and allow space and I don’t use external rewards as reinforcement- the joy in music and connection are the rewards; big no no to ABA approach too)

Nice getting to know you all!

Joli asked to take part in this competition because she wanted to “win” an overseas trip so she could travel (we haven’t been going overseas for a big while because it’s just too expensive to travel as a family of 6 😬) and she did it!! So happy for her in entering the grand final =) not looking at winning because other contestants are really solid! We are just hoping to play along. Well done all the children

I’ve learnt to say “yes” to all of children’s WOW ideas.
Because truly—anything is possible when we believe, and when we do it together.

I’m proud to say that we are more than just learning or playing other people’s music, or fitting into someone else’s perception of what music or performance should be.
We create space for one another to be ourselves—to be seen, to be heard, to be felt, and to be embraced and affirmed.

Music therapy goals can be misunderstood.

Myth:
Music therapy is about fixing what’s “wrong.”

Fact:
Music therapy is about supporting what’s strong.

While we are often referred due to a diagnosis—brain injury, stroke, autism, anxiety, stress—our work doesn’t stop there.

We work alongside the diagnosis, while connecting with the part of each person that supports emotional wellbeing, identity, and connection.

We focus on what can be strengthened.

We don’t define people by their disease, diagnosis, or challenge—we meet them as whole people.

Because who someone is matters just as much as what they are going through.

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty

🤭 Joli’s first musical theatre performance!

She researched on the choreography on YouTube just two days before the performance and still put up such a captivating performance!! Sooo cute, Joli!! 💖
