Daming comments sa FB about this certain Netflix documentary "The Death of a Pastor's Wife'
Several comments were like:
"Kaya ayoko na magsimba."
"Kaya hindi ako nagtitiwala sa mga pastor."
"Lahat sila hypocrite."
Kaya pinanood ko siya..
So can I lovingly say this?
Mag-ingat tayo sa conclusion natin.
What we watched was not a representation of biblical Christianity.
Hindi iyon ang larawan ng isang Christ-centered marriage.
At lalong hindi iyon ang klase ng leadership na itinuro ni Jesus.
Isa sa pinaka-nakabahala para sa akin ay kung paano ginamit ang Scripture tungkol sa submission.
Parang ang ibig sabihin lang ay, "Ako ang husband, ikaw ang wife, kaya susunod ka sa akin."
No.
Hindi puwedeng kunin ang isang verse na nagbibigay sa'yo ng authority habang ini-ignore mo ang mga verses na nagbibigay sa'yo ng responsibility.
Yes, Ephesians 5 says wives should submit to their husbands.
But keep reading.
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her." — Ephesians 5:25
Paano minahal ni Cristo ang Church?
He sacrificed Himself.
He served.
He laid down His life.
Biblical headship was never permission to control, manipulate, intimidate, or mistreat your wife.
Kaya mahalaga ang context.
Hindi puwedeng pitasin ang isang verse, ipilit ang sariling interpretation, tapos tatatakan ng "God said."
There's a difference between preaching the Word and using the Word.
At malaking difference iyon.
Pero may isa pang bagay na mas nakakalungkot.
Maraming nanood ng behavior ng isang lalaking nagsasabing representative siya ni Jesus, tapos iyon na agad ang dahilan para i-reject ang Church o si Christ mismo.
Please don't do that.
Jesus already warned us.
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves." — Matthew 7:15
Hindi sinabi ni Jesus na walang wolves.
Sinabi Niya, magbantay kayo sa kanila.
At sinabi rin Niya kung paano sila makikilala.
"You will know them by their fruits." — Matthew 7:16
Jesus said, look at the fruit.
Don't point at something that clearly contradicts Jesus and say, "See? That's Christianity."
No.
That's exactly what Jesus warned us about.
If you've been hurt by a church, don't stay away from God. Find a biblically sound church.
If a pastor twists Scripture, open your Bible and check it.
If something doesn't align with God's Word, ask questions.
And if someone tells you that questioning them is the same as questioning God... that should concern you.
God calls us to have discernment, not blind loyalty.
Yes, there are bad pastors.
Yes, there are false teachers.
Yes, there are hypocrites inside churches.
Jesus already told us there would be.
So don't judge Jesus by someone who doesn't look like Jesus.
Don't blame Scripture because somebody twisted it.
Don't blame the Church because somebody abused his position in one.
And most importantly...
Don't let another person's sin become your excuse for staying away from Christ.
At the end of the day, you will not answer for what that pastor did with Jesus.
You will answer for what you did with Jesus.
Don't blame the Shepherd for the wolf!
