AYLC 2012

AYLC 2012 Asian Young Leaders Convention 2012 The first AYLC was organised in 2008 by Jurong Junior College (JJC) and saw about 500 participants.

The Asian Young Leaders Convention (AYLC) brings together a community of young leaders, aged 15 to 18, who share a commitment to shaping the 21st century global landscape. AYLC 2009 was jointly organised by JJC and Tong Xiang Qiu Shi Middle School. It was held in Zhejiang Province, China, and was attended by more than 700 participants. AYLC 2010 was organised by River Valley High School (RVHS) in

Singapore. It attracted more than 900 student leaders from 79 schools that are from 8 Asian regions. AYLC 2011, jointly organised by RVHS and Wen Jiang Middle School (WJMS), was held in Chengdu, China. More than 1,200 student leaders from China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Macau, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore gathered in WJMS to forge friendships, attend training in values-based leadership skills, participate in forums on leadership competencies and embark on Experiential Learning Journeys. With strong support from the Ministry of Education, Singapore, and our partner schools, AYLC 2012 returned to Singapore and is organised by River Valley High School from 12 to 18 July with 1,800 participants from nearly 100 renowned institutions from 13 Asian regions. AYLC has grown from strength to strength to become one of the most prestigious student-led conventions in Asia.

Today officially marked the start of AYLC2012! Participants were warmly welcomed by River Valley High School facilitators.
With an insightful talk by Minister Teo Ser Luck, we have learned more about the importance of leadership and entrepreneurship. After his talk, Minister Teo took joined the forum, and answered questions posted by participants.
After forum, representatives from each school had their lunch with Minister. During lunch, participants continued asking minister questions pretending to leadership and entrepreneurship.
Mass discussion with two of River Valley High School's vice principals, Mr Cheng and Mr Loi started in the afternoon with participants continue posting questions pretending to the topic enthusiastically.
There are more exciting and fulfilling programs arranged for tomorrow. Let's look forward to it!
