I mean it when I say, that work feels like play when you enjoy it every day.

Such a privilege to work with pals that you respect, admire and appreciate at the bottom of your heart. A theatre production is more than a play, it’s about the process (as someone reminded me), and mostly, about the people.

Can’t wait to present this onstage at SIFA2026 as the opening show.

Limited tickets still available for 16 May 2026 (Sat) at sifa.sg

In today’s Business Times about

I love how Helmi looked into 3 theatre productions of classic plays and studied the ways we are re-examining, reimagining, and realigning our artistic directions.

Hamlet, Hedda Gabler and Salesman Zhi Si are so different and yet share similarities too. So wonderful. 😍

In today’s Straits Times Life! feature about

Had a wonderful 1.5 hours’ chat with Shawn Hoo, during which I realised I have been having all these thoughts in my mind but haven’t had the chance to verbalise them and organise them properly.

Looking forward to sharing more with audience members at Victoria Theatre. LATEST NEWS: we will be having a 20-minute post-show talk session after EVERY show. Feel free to stay back k? It’s scarier for us. 🤣

We started conceptualising the poster for in September 2025, 9 months before the staging of our show, after art designer attended our table read and first workshops a year ago. There are so many hidden stories behind this design.

First of all, the “Z” you see right in the middle was inspired by the Chinese word 之, which interestingly separated the space into two. Our play does talk about bridging two cultures and collision of two different languages. The colours chosen were representative of 3 countries. Can you identify them already?

The silhouettes are of course the 2 characters in this play: Arthur Miller or A.M. of AMerica, and Ying Ruocheng YRC of PRC. They hold on to a pair of glasses and a script respectively.

But it’s the white blocks that give you more imagination: are they pages of a book or opened doorways?

Another thing to share is that producer and I enthusiastically debated, thoroughly researched and painstakingly mulled over the bilingual taglines that captured the core essence of this play, hoping to bridge the gap between perception and reality.

Might this make you look twice at our publicity poster? 😊 I wish we had the means to explore this further… another time perhaps.
