✨ வரைகதை பயிலரங்கு – The Showcase 2025 ✨

Our finale showcase event was filled with energy, creativity, and pride as we celebrated the incredible work of storytellers who saw their animation stories come to life!

Five original Tamil animation stories – crafted with heart by students, teachers, teachers-to-be and local writers came alive onscreen.

Two new Tamil audiobooks were officially launched, adding meaningful resources for educators and learners.

This wasn’t just a showcase. It was a celebration of Tamil creativity, a reaffirmation of the power of storytelling, and a reminder of how innovation can keep our cultural heritage alive for generations to come.

Our special thanks to GOH Mr Mohamad Ali and our judges for the competition Ms Nantheini Elangovan and Dr G Kaveri.

A heartfelt thank you as well to everyone who joined us, supported us, and cheered on these young creators. Your encouragement makes a lasting impact.

We are back with another chapter of Kathai Neram...this time for Tamil Youth Festival 2024. This year, we had an interesting workshop called வரைகதை பயிலரங்கு. we now have 4 Tamil animation stories ready to be launched at our finale event: வரைகதை பயிலரங்கு - The Showcase!

It’s happening this Saturday, 7 September 2024, 10am to 1130am, Level 5, Possibility Room, NLB Bugis.

Apart from the stories, we are adding two new Tamil audio books to the resources as well! All are welcome to join us and we look forward to seeing you this Saturday!

Comics are an interesting tool in education. They trigger a student’s creativity, enhance their storytelling ability and more importantly encourages the use of language when scripting the dialogues succinctly. This year Kathai Neram 2023 conducted its second edition of its Tamil Comic Writing Competition. And we received overwhelming support from students and teachers. Our final round was conducted at on 1st April 2023 where students pieced together their comics in an hour and a half. Winners of this competition will be announced at our Prize Presentation & Discussion event happening on 29 April 2023, 10am at the main NLB. Wishing the students all the best!!

And we are back bigger and better this time with Kathai Neram 2023! In conjunction with the ongoing Tamil Language Festival, more than 60 students have taken part in our Tamil Comic Writing Competition (Secondary) and Tamil Storytelling Competition (Primary). Kathai Neram 2023 is proud to a share that for this year’s Tamil Language Festival we conducted our inaugural Tamil Storytelling Competition for primary school students. The competition aimed to promote the use of Tamil Language in a storytelling context.

Students recorded themselves reciting stories in Tamil for a minimum of 2 minutes. What’s wonderful is that we received so many responses for this competition and students unleashed their creativity not just via their storytelling ability but also by using various props that they designed themselves.

First Prize winner is Kanan Harishjanan from Changkat Changi Secondary School.
Second Prize winner is T Kishan from Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School.
Third Prize winner is Charles Rowena from Christ Church Secondary School.
